- This travelogue showcases the country of Argentina. Buenos Aires, its capital city, is the largest city in South America and ninth largest in the world, and combines old world charm and modern sensibilities. Most of its physical beauty stems from its man-made structures. Among its many landmarks and sites include Plaza de la Republica, Avenida de Florida (the primary shopping street), the Edificio Kavanaugh (the city's tallest building), the house of San José de Martin (the liberator of Argentina from Spain), the San Isidro horse racing track, the purportedly largest swimming pool in the world which can accommodate 100,000 people at one time, and the many city parks. In the country's hinterland, cattle ranching, arguably the country's most important industry, takes place in the pampas. Being a coastal country, fishing is also important to its economy. Recreational pursuits take place at among the many resorts, including the coastal resort of Mar del Plata, and the mountain resort of Bariloche.—Huggo
