Funny and very original
lighthog7 July 2004
I saw this short at the Atlanta Film Festival 2004 and really liked it. It was well-acted and written. A lot of the 48 Hour Films that made it to the same "Best Of Atlanta" show had big time production staffs and a lot of people behind the camera. This was one of the underdogs that seemed to be made by some very funny people who just grabbed a camera and went with it.

About the only false note was that the "old" landlady was clearly a younger actress playing old, which is hard to pull off on film. But she was funny, which I'm sure outweighed the age issue to the filmmakers.

The final scene was a great last joke, too.

Excellent production assistance

I also saw this film at the Atlanta Film Festival and agree with the previous critic that it's a great movie. I disagree that the younger girl playing the old woman was distracting - I thought she was fabulous.

Sure, it's not a high budget movie, but it has an awful lot of what we like to call "heart." Or maybe "gumption."

While the direction, acting, and cinematography were all superb, my favorite aspect of the movie was the expert production assistance, which shines through in every scene. I know that's not something you hear a lot about a movie, but I can't really describe it; you'll just have to see it yourself and enjoy the excellent PA work. Kudos.
