"I don't know, maybe it's normal...? It's not normal. I know it's not normal...!" The Orchard has released an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Tilt, from Iranian-American director Kasra Farahani. This premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, but like most Tribeca films, we've never heard of it before now. Tilt stars the young actor Joseph Cross as an unemployed documentary filmmaker whose behavior becomes increasingly erratic in the months after his wife becomes pregnant. The full cast includes Alexia Rasmussen, Jessy Hodges, C.S. Lee, and Kelvin Yu. This looks like a chilling psychological thriller, for sure. I'm not exactly sure how the pregnancy story plays into things, perhaps it is what sets off his insanity. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Kasra Farahani's Tilt, direct from The Orchard's YouTube: Something is off about Joe (Joseph Cross). He's not excited about the baby. He...

A month after it made decisions on its previous pilot slate, handing out series orders to drama The Affair and comedy Happyish, the pay cable network is back at it, greenlighting its first pilot for 2014, drama Billions. It was written on spec by journalist/author Andrew Ross Sorkin, whose book about the 2008 financial crisis Too Big To Fail was adapted by HBO Films, and by the feature writing duo of Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean’s Thirteen). Billions will stay in the world of finance/politics/power chronicled in Too Big to Fail. It focuses on the collision and, at times, collusion between an aggressive U.S. attorney in New York and some of the richest hedge fund billionaires in the country. Koppelman, Levien, and Sorkin executive produce. They are repped by CAA and Karl Austen. In TV, Koppelman and Levien recently served as showrunners on HBO’s Rock...

On Thursday’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, titled “The Killer,” Connor (Todd Williams) takes Jeremy, Matt, and April hostage at the Grill, and the Salvatore Brothers disagree on the best plan to save them. It’s an episode that provides a lot of answers about the vampire hunter, Williams says.
Entertainment Weekly: Connor is a character who, at the moment, is very easy to dislike. Is there something in his backstory that would surprise us?
Todd Williams: That’s what this episode is about, basically shedding some light as to why Connor’s doing what he’s doing.

Leonardo DiCaprio and the writers of Rounders and Ocean's Thirteen are collaborating on a new film set in the world of online casinos run out of Costa Rica. Brian Koppelman and David Levien have only come up with the story pitch and are yet to start writing the screenplay but DiCaprio is attached to star in the film and produce via his Appian Way production company for Paramount Pictures.
Koppelman and Levien can be credited with sparking the trend of poker-themed movies with 1998's Rounders. They created the poker centric Espn fictional series Tilt which was broadcast in 2005 and lasted for just nine episodes. This new project is the first one involving online casinos, a lucrative business that attracts millions of worldwide players and billions of dollars in revenue. Allegations of unscrupulous business practices have dogged the casinos but since they're incorporated outside of federal jurisdiction prosecution and regulation remains impossible to implement.

NEW YORK -- A longer-than-normal home run derby live from San Francisco delayed by more than an hour the debut of ESPN's much-anticipated miniseries The Bronx Is Burning.
The first episode of the miniseries focusing on the 1977 New York Yankees and starring John Turturro and Oliver Platt was supposed to get started at 10 p.m. EDT. But it didn't start until 11:05 p.m. EDT thanks to the home run derby that eventually was won by the Angels' Vladimir Guerrero.
Bronx averaged 2.2 million viewers, according to data released late Tuesday by Nielsen Media Research. That was comparable with a previous ESPN miniseries, Tilt, that averaged 2 million viewers in January 2005. But it was below the Aug. 26, 2003, debut of the controversial football series Playmakers, which averaged 2.6 million viewers.
Even before the big delay, ESPN planned to replay the first episode of Bronx at 10 p.m. Wednesday and again two hours later on ESPN. It also will air at 10 p.m.

NEW YORK -- ESPN on Wednesday announced a broad reorganization of its content division, including the renaming of ESPN Original Entertainment and expanding its reach from only TV to all platforms.
EOE, as it was known, brought to the network original movies like 3, such series as Playmakers and Tilt as well as the series Cold Pizza and Pardon the Interruption and the forthcoming eight-part miniseries The Bronx Is Burning.
ESPN also has named Keith Clinkscales, who joined the sports giant in 2004, as senior vp content development and strategies.
Reporting to Clinkscales will be Ron Semiao, senior vp original events, who will oversee such content as the ESPYs and the X Games. Senior vp Rick Alessandri will continue to focus on the X Games and ESPN's consumer products business. Content development vp Bob Wallace is working on ESPN Reports as well as other projects.
Clinkscales said Wednesday that the creative community that works with ESPN to develop shows, movies and miniseries isn't going to see a scaling down of what he called the "phenomenal history" of EOE.

ESPN, one of the NHL's biggest TV partners, says the league's cancellation of the 2004-05 season is leading the network to review whether it should keep pro hockey on ESPN2. ESPN has a one-year contract with the NHL, with two one-year options. ESPN can cancel its deal with the NHL every year, and it's approaching that time. "We've got some decisions to make, and we're going to have to sit down in the prolonged offseason and assess the damage and determine their value going forward," ESPN senior vp programming Mark Shapiro said Wednesday, a few hours after NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said the season will be canceled without playing a game. No decision has been made, but Shapiro said that fill-in programming has performed better than hockey did last year. Tilt, an ESPN original series that costs less to make than hockey, averages a 1.1 household rating compared with a 0.4 for other replacement programming and a 0.2 for last year's regular-season hockey games.
