Worthwhile followup
lor_27 May 2011
It's sort of "jet set" porn, with this fairly plot-less but arousing followup to the classic by Cameron Grant. I'm not sure if there's still an audience out there for this big-budget approach, but I enjoyed it on a surface level.

Shooting on film, Nicholas Steel(e) emphasizes glamor, as he shows the elaborate preparations for a dinner party, given a kind of Upstairs/Downstairs approach - focus on the guests/hosts and focus on the staff. It's ultimately aloof porn, in that one gets zero characterizations, but at least it's glittery and attractive to watch.

My favorite performers here are Lauren Phoenix and Kimberly Kane, both beautiful actresses who benefit from the care in styling/makeup/hair for a big-budget production like this one. The male cast is less than ideal, peopled with many overexposed (and over-worked) stars like Randy Spears (overly smug hiding behind his flashy/trendy shades), Evan Stone (I wish they'd give this ham back to the Indians) and an almost unrecognizable, re-styled (shaved head look) Steven St. Croix. I think after amassing 1000 credits or so, they should put these studs out to stud.

Tech credits are sumptuous.
