Splendid

I was lucky enough to see this movie by a young, up-and-coming director who I'll bet we'll be hearing a lot more about. It is visually stunning and well acted. A real joy! The lighting and camera work is also very interesting. It reflects what is going on in the movie. The movie also keeps you guessing. Not everything is what it seems -- but, then again, that's true in real life too! By the end of the movie, you really want the characters to find happiness. I don't want to give away the ending so you have to see for yourself what happens. This is not cookie-cutter "mainstream" cinema. It is imaginative and bold. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to see cutting-edge movie making.

Impressed

This film is extremely imaginative and beautifully shot. It's sort of a twisted fairytale set in the streets of Prague with drag queens, doomed romance and an underlying theme of escape that I think everyone can related to in their own way. The story is told through great performances, bold colors and expressive lighting and music that make even the most dismal and dark moments in the film look and feel magical. You really get a glimpse into the characters' emotional states even though you only spend half an hour with them. The acting in the film is really impressive, especially the performances by the two lead actors, Nicholas DiNardo and Michaela Hráská. I hope to see more directorial work from Cerny in the near future.
