Keep your hands off the wheel. Self-driving Ubers are hitting the roads of Pittsburgh today, the car service announced Wednesday. After a year and a half of testing, top customers will be able to take a ride in Uber's first fleet of self-driving cars. However, there will still be a safety driver in the vehicle when it arrives. It’s still very early: Self-Driving Ubers have a safety driver in the front seat because they require human intervention in many conditions, including bad weather," the announcement reads. The player is ex-rb Baron Batch -- a 2011 draft pick who was cut in 2013. Founded in 1994 by Michael and Renee George, Pittsburgh Comicon is held every year in the Monroeville Convention Center, near the Monroeville Mall. Fans of the horror genre will recognize the mall from its appearance in Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008), among others. The city’s pop-culture history makes it an ideal location for a pop-culture based convention. The convention is usually small, but has been used to raise more than $250,000 at a time for local charities including the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Over the years, the show has been host to some of the largest names in the entertainment industry, including greats like Kevin Smith, Tom Savini, Mark Waid, and even Stan Lee. The convention has even been the setting for a few of my articles here at Sound on Sight.

Yes, Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies is a real movie, and today we have a trailer for it for you to watch. This movie is exactly what the title says it is, and it's an insanely ridiculous concept that you're either going to love or hate. It's just one of those movies that spews absurdity.
It was written and directed by Cody Knotts, and it stars "Rowdy” Roddy Piper, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan, “The Franchise” Shane Douglas, Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle, and Matt Hardy. They play a group of wrestlers (obviously) who are part of an event at an abandoned prison. As you might guess, the abandoned prison is overrun with zombies. Here's a lengthy detailed synopsis:
“Pro Wrestlers Vs. Zombies” is exactly as it sounds — sports entertainment icons and local ring talent using their signature fighting styles, athleticism and anything they can get their hands on to fend off the undead.

Everyone is familiar with the legendary Monroeville Mall, and we know the Pittsburgh area is basically ground zero for the creation of the modern day zombie. Director William Sanders is taking the nostalgic love horror fans have for the area and bringing a whole new nightmare there.
Sanders and his writing and producing partner, Kevin Kriess, have attached Tom Savini to star in their upcoming film, Road Trip of the Dead, which will be shot in several of our favorite horror sites around the Steel City.
They currently have a Road Trip of the Dead Indiegogo campaign launched that you can check out if you want to contribute. There are some really cool perks available to contributors, including authentic pieces of the original elevator and escalator from JCPenney used in the filming of Dawn of the Dead.

Sundance Film Festival alum and Alton, Il native Brian Jun is preparing to bring his 5th feature back to the St. Louis metro area to film. The Kickstarter campaign for his film In The Buck hopes to exceed its projected $75,000 goal for a planned May 2014 shoot. His newest film is a provocative story about sex, love, fertility and how the expectations of gender roles have shaped modern relationships. After personally backing projects on this platform for a couple years, Jun decided to bring his current project to Kickstarter to take advantage of the “freedom and financial resources it offered to make a truly original piece of work.”

The latest indie web series to cross our radar comes from the Steel City. Internet Famous, created by Pittsburgh-based duo Chris Lee and Tom Williams, shows what happens when an ordinary guy stars in a viral video against his will. The main character of Internet Famous is Andy, who gains the nickname Angry Andy after he delivers a bitter rant that his roommate secretly records. As the series goes on, Andy must deal with the unintended consequences of his 15 minutes. Despite this premise, Internet Famous ultimately breaks down to a canvas through which the lead characters can bounce lines of dialogue off one another. In an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Williams named Kevin Smith (and Clerks in particular) as a main inspiration. "Being dirty for the sake of being dirty -- that's not really funny," he said. "That was the conscious effort -- we wanted to make it as...

Pittsburgh, previously known as “The Steel City” for its many beautiful steel trees, shall henceforth be known as The City That Watches The Most Live TV, after a new Nielsen report determined it leads the nation in live TV viewing, and we decided that it’s a way better nickname. During the most recent sweeps period, the average Pittsburgh resident watched around five-and-a-half hours of live TV per day—a number that can probably be traced to Pittsburgh’s proudly blue-collar roots in its distrust of fancy DVRs, or in the vast numbers of Pittsburghers who stumble home from a ...

Move over, Wilmington. Pittsburgh has declared itself the new Hollywood of the East. Although people have been making movies in the Steel City practically since the video camera was invented, the city’s film industry really took off when Pennsylvania introduced a tax credit program for filmmakers about 10 years ago. Since then, Pittsburgh has seen a steady increase of film work — culminating this year, when five major studio movies shot in southwestern Pa hit theaters, including The Dark Knight Rises and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. A murder story starring Steve Carell and Channing Tatum, a new TV show starring Chloe Sevigny,...

I can't remember the last time I saw two performances this good, wasted in such a substandard film. Won't Back Down is a softball feature trying to play hardball as it tackles the issues facing public schools, refuses to leave any stone unturned and sabotages its own story as a result. Unsure of what he wants to focus on specifically, director and co-writer Daniel Barnz is addressing motivated teachers versus those skating by, upset parents, disadvantaged kids, charter schools with limited space, uncaring unions and private schools that cost too much money. And those are just the surface level issues before you bring in the actual characters. First we have Jamie Fitzpatrick (Maggie Gyllenhaal). She's a single mother, working two jobs. Her daughter is dyslexic and they can't afford private school, they missed out on the charter school lottery and her daughter's teacher is lazy and uncaring. The system is...

Now the canning giant is commemorating Warhol’s work — and trying to revitalize its own brand — by releasing special edition cans of condensed tomato soup that sport colorful, Warhol-print-inspired labels.
This is the company’s third flirtation with pop art — as the AP writes, Warhol-inspired cans were previously sold in small quantities in both 2006, at New York City department store Barney’s, and in 2004, at Pittsburgh-based supermarket Giant Eagle. If Sean Bean has a hole in his schedule, Andrew has a few film pitches that might interest him...
What can you say about Sean Bean that hasn't been said before? He's like a Moomin Shaman. His love is deeper than the sun and he's as gentle as a mother's kiss.
Apologies if your mother sometimes gets a bit carried away. No one needs those flashbacks.
While Robert Carlyle selfishly took the lead role in Sawney Bean, there are still movies out there, potentially, with a Sean Bean shaped hole in them. The Hobbit is set about 78 years before The Fellowship Of The Ring, but maybe Ecthelion II looks quite like his grandson. Yes, the world knows Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, but Pittsburgh has a wealth of hip-hop talent. With the Steel City's two breakout stars already accounted for, MTV News took a trip to the 'Burgh to see who's got next.
"A lot of people are talented. There are just a million talented people out there," Miller told MTV News when he took us on a tour through his hometown in December.
Acts like Boaz, Chevy Woods, B White and Mayo of the 58's, Jabari X and Varsity Squad have been repping Pittsburgh locally for some time now, and while Mac supports all the city's homegrown talent, if he had to pick one act to break out nationwide, it would be the Come Up,...

Pittsburgh — Some call it Steel City, others call it the City of Bridges, but Mac Miller simply calls his hometown "the illest city in the world."
After releasing his 2010 mixtape K.I.D.S., Miller set out and toured the world, spending more and more time away from home. It was that time away that inspired the name for Mac's debut album, Blue Slide Park. Named after his favorite childhood hangout, Mac aimed to shine the spotlight on his city. After months of touring in 2011, the "Knock, Knock" Mc invited MTV News to come out to a pair of homecoming shows back in December and gave us a tour of the 'Burgh, starting, of course, with Blue Slide Park, a playground...

And so you have it, The Dark Knight Rises has wrapped its 7 month long, 3 continent wide shoot. It has certainly been an adventure for Christopher Nolan and the cast & crew of the final installment of the Gotham Trilogy. From May in Jodhpur, India to November in New York City, the filming of The Dark Knight Rises has been a widely publicized, massive production. And yet somehow it stayed relatively secretive in the grand scheme of things, especially for those who didn’t scour the internet for every cellphone video and photo from the sets.
We covered the important milestones of the production over the span of twelve production updates. We’ll summarize those articles, as well as include a batch of the latest and last photos from filming in NYC, here in this final update. If you’ve managed to hold yourself to a strict standard of spoiler-avoidance, read no more.

Mumbai, Nov 12: Vikramaditya Motwane is shelling out Rs.50 crore to get the old world look right in his next project, a heist caper set in the 1950s. Apart from hiring vintage cars, the 'Udaan' director has set aside Rs.5 crore just to get actor Ranveer Singh's look bang on in the film.
'The entire ethos of the 1950s is being recreated. When Motwane did 'Udaan', he went on location to Jamshedpur to get a flavour of the 1970s in the Steel City. But this time the sights, sounds and flavours of the 50s have to be recreated on a studio set. The cars and the clothes alone would cost around Rs.25 crore,' said a source close to the project.

Joint Body was originally reviewed during the St. Louis Filmmaker’s Showcase.
Joint Body is the newest film from indie writer and director Brian Jun, whose 2006 film Steel City earned him the Sundance Channel Emerging Director award at the St. Louis International Film Festival. The film was shot just across the Mississippi River in Illinois, Jun.s home state.
The story takes place over seven days in a small town, following Nick (Mark Pellegrino) as he stumbles through an uncertain future. Having served seven years in prison, Nick is released on parole, with the condition that he relinquishes all rights of custody over his now teenage daughter to his ex-wife. Nick settles into a shabby halfway house and secures a job welding for a fabricator. Nick.s brother Dean (Ryan O.Nan) is now a cop on the vice squad, fresh out of the academy. Comedian Louis Ck visited Conan O’Brien last night during the talkshow host’s final night in New York, and the two swapped stories about the early days, when the no-name red-head took over for David Letterman and hired the struggling comic as one of his first writers. “You saved my life, and you gave me a career,” said Louis, who’s since done rather well for himself.
Louis Ck sits atop the stand-up comedy landscape, and his FX show has introduced his unique comic perspective to millions of viewers. It will be interesting to see, then, if his next venture will be a success.

During the end of July and beginning of August, we brought you a bat-ton of behind the scenes images and video from director Christopher Nolan‘s Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania set of The Dark Knight Rises. Now, after leaving the Steel City in style, Nolan and his bat-cast and bat-crew (ok, I’ll stop) are shooting in Los Angeles, and the lovely Anne Hathaway is doing some street fighting!
Hathaway was shooting a scene in which she was reportedly eating an apple while talking to a young male actor, and was then interrupted by a street thug with a knife. So, what is Selina Kyle to do? Why, completely kick his ass all whilst keeping a grip on her half-eaten apple of course! Check out the pics below.

After several weeks spent filming a snowy summer in Pittsburgh, "The Dark Knight Rises" has now up and moved production to Los Angeles. Fortunately, Los Angelinos seem to be as capable of furtively filming new set developments as their counterparts in The Steel City, as evidenced by a slew of new photos and videos.
First up are a pair of photos posted to the Facebook page for the La Fox affiliate and labeled, "The pictures Warner Brothers doesn't want you to see!" Hyperbolic proclamation aside, the shots appear to be pretty run-of-the mill, with crowds milling about amidst production equipment. The most interesting part of the shots is the false wall tunnel built for some special effects explosions in the film.
For a closer look at that fascinatingly damaged tunnel, go no further than a YouTube video that zooms in on what looks like a humongous car pile-up, including some...

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania can return to normal now that Bane has left Heinz Field, Catwoman isn't riding oversized motorcycles around and the caped crusader's famed Batmobile is no longer burrowing holes into the street. That's right, the cast and crew of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises have officially wrapped up shooting in the Steel City, Coming Soon reported this morning.
Warner Bros. and company were even kind enough to throw a special courtesy ad in the local newspaper (you remember those things, right?) thanking their gracious host city.

As production on the 2012 Batman flick wraps in the Steel City, we detail the five coolest looks to hit the Net.
By Eric Ditzian
On the set of "Dark Knight Rises" in Pittsburgh
In late May, to mark the start of "Dark Knight Rises" production in Pittsburgh, we got our first look at the newest villain to face off against Batman: Tom Hardy as the broad-backed, rubber-face-mask-rocking Bane. That juicy, studio-approved first look, it turned out, was a harbinger of spoiler-y sneak peeks to come.
Over the next three months, we feasted our eyes upon villains and vehicles and massive action set pieces and more. The free-for-all, though, is probably at an end, as "Dark Knight Rises" production in Pittsburgh has wrapped ahead of a shift to Los Angeles, where on-set security is likely to be significantly tighter. So as we bid goodbye to Batman's adventures in the Steel City,...

Throughout the past couple of months, we’ve brought you tons of behind the scenes images and video from the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania set of director Christopher Nolan‘s forthcoming trip to Gotham with The Dark Knight Rises. We have seen Tom Hardy in his Bane gear, Anne Hathaway seemingly stealing the Batpod in her skin-tight Catwoman costume, and Christian Bale piloting what appeared to be the Nolan Batverse’s (very Tumbler’esque) version of the Batwing throughout the city’s streets.
While most movie fans would totally dig having a movie filmed outside their office (myself included), it can put a tremendous strain on traffic and the like in a busy city like Pittsburgh. Not to mention the strain it puts on a movie crew to shoot during daylight hours, having to shut down streets and having to be aware of so many factors outside the production that they don...

From the minute Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale gave that possibly ill-advised press conference announcing the start of The Dark Knight Rises location shoot in Pittsburgh, a torrent of spy pics, videos and spoilers have run out of the Steel City like water from an open fire hydrant. Not that Team Nolan has any hard feelings; the Pittsburgh leg of The Dark Knight Rises shooting schedule has come to a close, prompting Warner Bros. to thank city residents for their cooperation. Click through for a look at the friendly note.

A hijacked football stadium, a Batpod-riding cat burglar, a possible Batwing sighting and countless Tumblers and probable spoilers later, "The Dark Knight Rises" has finally left Pittsburgh.
Latino Review has a great collection of news on Christopher Nolan's final Batman film this morning, the biggest item being the production's completion of the Pittsburgh shoot.
The Nolan led team have placed an advertisement in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette with the words "Thank You PIttsburgh" in big capital letters set to the backdrop of the familiar "Dark Knight Rises" poster.
I was about to say that the Pittsburgh departure is a blessing and a curse for "Dark Knight Rises" watchers, but really, it's not… it's a good, good thing. Almost too much information was leaking out of the Steel City, so much so that we've seen Bane in his full-on costume, we've gotten our first (and very unofficial) look at what's pretty clearly Batman's new wings,...

Residents of Pittsburgh will now only have their burgeoning local art scene and recent pre-season Steelers win over the Philadelphia Eagles to keep them in the headlines. The Dark Knight Rises, the massive production of the new Batman film, has decamped from the city, after spending the last three weeks covering the streets with snow, driving Batpods down stairs of grand buildings and at one point digging a hole in the street to toss the Batmobile inside it. Christohper Nolan and his production team apparently weren't too miffed about the plethora of set photos and videos have leaked, as they ran a newspaper ad thanking the Steel City for their services. Coming Soon snagged the ad, and you can see it below: With Man of Steel apparently headed to Vancouver's soundstages to wrap up its shooting, this marks the end of the glut of superhero set photos and videos we've...

By now, with all the detailed footage that paparazzi have captured on the city street set, Christopher Nolan and the producers of "The Dark Knight Rises" must just desperately want to get out of Pittsburgh. Unfortunately for them, we now know what their getaway vehicles might look like, too.
Then again, they are pretty sweet looking rides.
Major filming on Christopher Nolan's star-studded final Batman epic was done over the weekend in the Steel City, including chase scenes caught on tape by gathered onlookers. Revealing bits and pieces were caught with amateur cameras, including some up close looks at Batman's trusty air option, the Batwing. It's a big of a monstrosity, though it should look pretty intense and advanced once special effects are added.
Also getting sizable screen time is the army of tumblers that have been prowling Pittsburgh's streets over the past few weeks, as well as some...

Filming for Christopher Nolan’s "The Dark Knight Rises" continued in Pittsburgh over the weekend with locals and paparazzi getting a sneak peak of some of elaborate getaway vehicles. Onlookers got a look at Anne Hathaway’s stunt double for some of the Catwomen scenes, which sees the brunette mount a futuristic motor cycle. Fans also got the first glimpse at some chase scenes in the Steel city. The all-star cast line up sees the return of Christian Bale in the role of Batman and also includes Tom Hardy; Anne Hathway; Joseph Gordon-Levitt; Morgan Freeman; Michael Cane and Gary Oldman. It's been far too long since the first official photo of Anne Hathaway in "The Dark Knight Rises" was released and the internet let out a collective outburst of, "But, Where Are The Ears!?" Thankfully, something new for us to scrutinize about Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie has just bubbled to the surface, and this time it's video!
A fan near the film's Pittsburgh set caught footage of the Steel City all gussied up to look like a snow-covered Gotham in winter. The video shows the desert camo'ed Batmobile tumbler cruising down the street, and even more interestingly, contains our first look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.
Of course, Blake is just a Gotham City beat cop, not a spectacular, gimmicky villain, so there's really not so much to see here. If you've caught Gordon-Levitt in anything since he cut his hair on "Third Rock from the Sun,...
