Looking back at this show, I gave it a rewatch and I think it's amazing. Despite being an adult without children, I watch it myself mainly because I grew up watching this as a kid. Regardless of age, it is just as fun to watch now as it did then. I recommend this show to people of all ages.
Tractor Tom is a good example of an intelligent and friendly character who works very well with his friends on Springhill Farm. The show has other good characters too. Rev may not be the sharpest tool in the drawer because sometimes he can be a bad influence on the other characters, but he seems to learn lessons from the other characters too. Buzz was mischievous, in the first season, but behaved better in the second season (showing good character development). Regardless of his flaws, he was likeable too. The rest of the characters aren't mean spirited, though they may not always make the right choices. I also like the format of how the characters are organized. Farmer Fi and Matt are like Parental figures, Wheezy is like a grandfather figure, Tom is like a 8-12 year old, Buzz and Rora are like a little bother and sister figure (I'd guess around 3-6), and Rev would be like a teenage brother figure (about 14-17)
The show teaches some good lessons. It includes working together/ teamwork, good craftsmanship/ leadership, listening to others ideas, staying on task, working hard and getting rewarded. This show can teach other good lessons aside from teamwork you can use in your everyday life. That can include making good choices, etc.
The show also has some good humour to go along with it. Making the show funny to watch can give everyone a laugh, also keeping the older audience interested while watching the show. There is a running gag where the sheep escape and cause some kind of trouble. There was even a scene when the sheep discovered pogo sticks and they started bouncing. Having an unexpected plot twist can evoke surprises and encourage excitement.
Considering this for a kids show from 2002, this animation is pretty solid. I really think that the character designs are cute looking, along with a nice colour palette. Even though this CGI may have been lower budget and not Jimmy Neutron level good, it still is tolerable and eye catching.
For the voice acting, it's done pretty well as the actors sounded natural. The voices aren't annoying unlike Coconut Fred or Jay Jay the Jet Plane, where the voices sounded fake and forced.
I recommend this show to everyone. This is an underrated and forgotten gem from my childhood. Sadly it was short lived and it was cancelled after two seasons. Not that that's a bad thing, but it faded into obscurity. The first season may have not been the best as it had a Thomas and Friends narration style where the characters don't talk (Except Fi and Matt). The second season was good as the characters had voice actors. I would even show this show to my future children instead of watching Cocomelon. Before closing, I give thanks to the creators who made a great childhood.
