Friends forever! Bradley Cooper told Howard Stern in a new interview on Wednesday, Oct. 21, that he will "never" sleep with his frequent costar Jennifer Lawrence — regardless of how young he dates. The Burnt actor, 40, who's famously starred alongside the gorgeous Oscar-winning actress, 25, in numerous, critically acclaimed, award-winning films including Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle, Serena, and Joy, explained why their relationship is purely platonic to Stern on his SiriusXM radio show. "Bradley, what is going on there? Jennifer Lawrence. You're doing another movie with [...]...

BRUSSELS -- European cinema chain Kinepolis Group on Friday reported a 6% drop in attendance for the first quarter of this year, blaming it on "the mediocre range of films on offer during this period."
The group said that the top five movies from the January to March period -- Night at the Museum, Taxi 4, Blood Diamond, The Departed and La Mome -- compared poorly with the boxoffice hits from the same period last year. Those films included The Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong, Munich, "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and Les Bronzes 3.
The three-month period saw the group sell 5.7 million tickets to its cinema complexes, off 4% from the 6.1 million that walked through the turnstiles from January to March 2006. However, the latest figures include new complexes in Bruges and Poland so, on a comparative basis, the numbers are down 6%.
The results come a month after Kinepolis reported net profits of 14.6 million ($19.1 million) in 2006, up 80% from its 8.1 million ($10.6 million) profit in 2005.
Kinepolis, launched in 1997, has more than 300 screens in 22 cinema complexes in Belgium, France, Spain, Poland and Switzerland and employs more than 1,900 people.

American imports grabbed a 46% share, a 1.2% decrease from 2005.
Overall admissions for the period jumped 10.4%, to 167.48 million.
After disappointing boxoffice returns in October, a 9.3% decrease from the same month in 2005, November saw a 13% increase in ticket sales compared with 2005, to 14.6 million.
The current boxoffice leader for the year is cult hit Les Bronzees 3, with 10.4 million admissions, followed by strong performances from other French fare, including Camping, You Are So Handsome and recent releases Prete-moi ta main and Days of Glory.
Ticket sales over the last 12 months are estimated at 191.2 million, an increase of 11.3% compared with the preceding year.

PARIS -- The dreary wet weather that reigned in August led to longer queues at French cinemas. Attendance climbed to 14.8 million admissions in August -- 19% up from the year before, France's Center National de la Cinematographie reported Thursday. Overall French boxoffice receipts for the first eight months jumped 12.5% to 128 million tickets sold, CNC said. French films chalked up a 42.2% market share through August, a 5.2-point rise from the same period last year, as French moviegoers flocked to see local hits such as Les Bronzes 3 and Camping. U.S. films retreated to a 48.8% share, giving up 3.2 points' worth of ground.

PARIS -- French boxoffice is up 22% for the first five months of the year when compared with the same period in 2005. France's National Cinema Center released figures Monday that put total admissions for January-May at 91.12 million tickets. The month of May alone saw an increase of 34% from the same month last year, with 18.48 million tickets sold. February still reigns as the best month of 2006, however, with 22.91million admissions -- a jump of 36.7%. French films also are on the rise, capturing a 49.3% share of the marketplace compared to 45.5% last year. This is largely thanks to the success of Patrice Leconte's Les Bronzes 3: Amis Pour La Vie, which has broken the 10 million-admission mark. Meanwhile, U.S. films have seen their market share drop to 41.2% for the first five months of the year compared with 44.9% in 2005.

PARIS -- French comedy Camping grossed $13.8 million in its debut last week, making it the country's second-best opening of 2006. Directed by Fabrice Onteniente, Camping came in second behind Patrice Leconte's Les Bronzes 3 -- Amis Pour La Vie, which took $28.7 million in its first seven days in February. Camping has an ensemble cast that includes such popular French names as Gerard Lanvin, Mathilde Seigner, Franck Dubosc, Claude Brasseur and Antoine Dulery.
PARIS -- The Printemps du Cinema, France's annual three-day spring promotion that wrapped Tuesday, attracted 2.6 million admissions across France, its highest-ever turnout since the event was launched in 2000, organizers said Wednesday. The National Federation of French Cinemas, which offered movie tickets at a discounted rate of 3.50 ($4.23) in 5,300 cinema halls across France, said the strength of new releases had contributed to the 18.2% increase in ticket sales over last year. French comedies Du jour au lendemain (One Fine Day) and Essaye-moi (Try Me) topped the list of 10 films with the highest number of tickets sold during the week starting March 15, which included the promotion (March 19-21). Underworld: Evolution beat French hit comedy Les Bronzes 3 -- Amis Pour la Vie (Friends Forever) by four tickets to occupy the third slot. The French comedy, which has broken several French records, crossed the 10 million-admissions mark during the promotion. Other Hollywood films on the top 10 list for the week include The Pink Panther, Memoirs of a Geisha and Derailed, in the fifth, seventh and 10th place, respectively.

PARIS -- The Printemps du Cinema, France's annual spring promotion which lures audiences to the movies with cut-price tickets, kicked off Sunday with 1.1 million admissions, a 30% increase over last year's first-day figure, organizers said Monday. The National Federation of French Cinemas (FNCF), which has organized the three-day promotion since 2000, attributed Sunday's turnout to the diversity of new Hollywood and French releases, including The Pink Panther, Underworld: Evolution, French comedies Du jour au lendemain (One Fine Day) and Essaye-moi (Try Me) and black-and-white animation film Renaissance. The holdover strength of earlier releases such as Prime, Fauteuils d'orchestre (Orchestra Seats) and L'Ivresse du pouvoir (Comedy of Power) also contributed to film admissions on the first day. The strong showing Sunday was also helped by French hit comedy Les Bronzes 3 - amis pour la vie (Friends Forever) which crossed 10.1 million admissions this weekend, and another French comedy, Je vous trouve tres beau (You Are So Beautiful), which crossed the 3 million mark, the FNCF added.

Lack of a dominant U.S. blockbuster plus a scattershot pattern of Oscar-related and competing middle-profile titles muted the international boxoffice this weekend, with Warner Bros.' Syriana claiming the No. 1 spot for a U.S. title by garnering an estimated $5.9 million from more than 1,300 screens in 20 markets. The biggest boxoffice smash overseas continues to be Warner Bros. Pictures' release in France of Les Bronzes 3: Amis Pour La Vie (The Suntanned Ones: Friends for Life), which dominated the market for the fourth weekend in a row, making it one of France's top 10 boxoffice hits ever. The film earned an estimated $8.1 million with 1.1 million admissions from 950 screens, generating a mighty $68.4 million market total to date. Warners broadened its international rollout of Syriana by 10 new territories, raising its international boxoffice total in its second weekend to an estimated $9.5 million.

The seasonal lull at the overseas boxoffice once again saw an overabundance of films vying for a piece of the boxoffice action that's been dented by the lack of compelling new entries, the failure of Oscar hopefuls to attract major attention, and the conclusion of school and religious holidays. In addition, the Winter Olympics are said to have had some influence on the drop-off in moviegoing in northern Europe. In the midst of the downturn, political drama Syriana, opening in 10 new territories, topped U.S. offerings with $5.9 million from about 1,480 screens in 31 markets. But the Warner Bros. French release Les Bronzes 3 -- Amis Pour La Vie maintained its hold as the international market's best-grossing film for the fourth weekend in a row, earning about $7 million from 950 screens for an estimated cume of $67.3 million from its home market alone.

The growing industry concern that too many films are flooding the overseas market at the same time was forcefully demonstrated over the weekend, as a horde of product vied for a place on global boxoffice charts. Without a dominant mass-dated U.S. blockbuster in play until the summer onslaught that begins in May, the French phenomenon released by Warner Bros. France, Les Bronze 3: Amis Pour La Vie, topped the overseas market for a third straight week, earning $10.3 million from 950 screens for a eye-opening cume of $57.8 million from the home market alone. Meanwhile, Oscar hopefuls, middle-profile films and assorted genres in all budget ranges managed to find dates here and there in a changing and somewhat confusing offshore market. And as the product poured out, some distributors said they were counterprogramming against the Winter Olympics, taking advantage of school holidays, or trying to cash in on awards-season publicity.

PARIS -- Richard Fox, executive vp of Warner Bros. International, received France's highest cultural honor Monday as he was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of the Arts and Letters) "for his lifetime commitment to cultural diversity as exemplified by his achievements in the world of international film." Presented by French Culture and Communications minister Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres at a ceremony at the French Cultural Ministry in Paris, the award places Fox among a distinguished group of U.S. artists, writers and film personalities who have been honored since the order was created in 1957. They include William Faulkner, Paul Auster, Robert Redford, Meryl Streep and Uma Thurman, who was knighted earlier this month. Fox, who began his career at Warner Bros. in 1975 and has held his current post overseeing local-language co-production, acquisition, marketing and distribution in more than 20 countries since 1992, has been involved in a slew of the studio's international successes. In France, Jean-Pierre Jeunet's A Very Long Engagement has become the most widely distributed French film in history, while Warner France's most recent film, Les Bronzes 3: Amis pour la vie, directed by Patrice Leconte, has shattered a number of French opening records since its Feb. 1 opening.

Although Steven Spielberg's Munich continued strongly in 51 territories on the foreign release circuit, the biggest overseas boxoffice this weekend was registered yet again by Le Bronzes 3: Amis Pour La Vie, a local-language film that Warner Bros. is releasing in France. In its third weekend at 950 screens, Les Bronzes 3: Amis Pour La Vie (The Bronze 3: Friends For Life) yielded an estimate of $9.2 million from more than 1.2 million admissions. This is the third weekend in a row that Le Bronzes finished first. The title's French market total boxoffice stands at $56.8 million. United International Pictures' Munich rolled up an estimated $7.4 million, bringing its total international gross to date to $64.3 million. It bowed No. 2 in Russia, an increasingly important foreign market, with $319,000 from 130 screens. Fox International's Walk The Line had a mixed overseas reception. While it held nicely in the UK, Germany and Australia, it experienced mediocre openings in three key markets: France, Japan and Italy.

PARIS -- A film about a band of trashy, loud-mouthed 50-something characters on vacation has captured the imagination of French filmgoers, smashing a series of boxoffice records in France, and raking in 39 million ($46.4 million) from 950 screens nationwide in the two weeks since its Feb. 1 opening. Les Bronzes 3: Amis Pour La Vie has had a phenomenal take-off, with opening week tally of 3.9 million tickets sold surpassing previous French opening-week toppers Asterix and Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (3.7 million), Taxi: 2 (3.5 million) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (3.1 million). But this is no ordinary sequel -- the six raucous characters featured in Amis have become French cultural icons since they starred in their debut film Les Bronzes (The Suntanned Ones) in 1978. Set at a Club Med resort on the Ivory Coast, the first film parodied the pettiness of brash young French tourists in the 1970s, who equated vacations with sexual conquests.

The weak performance of local-language films has been cited as one of the reasons for last year's downslide at the overseas boxoffice. But if early signs are any indication, there'll be a drastic change this year, especially with the phenomenal take-off of France's Les Bronzes 3: Amis Pour La Vie, which earned $43.7 million from 950 prints in two weekends in its home market alone. The Warner Bros. France release, which set a number of all-time opening records, took in $14.5 million nationwide over the weekend, becoming the international market's leading boxoffice draw despite dropping 40% from its debut weekend. With the arrival of Les Bronzes, UIP's Oscar-contender Munich gave up the top-grossing international lead, settling for a $7.3 million weekend from 2,869 screens in 37 countries and advancing its foreign cume to $45.5 million.
