A group of students take action when a new student experiences racism.

This film is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to explore with children the issues of racism and discrimination, and how young people can take a powerful stand. A group of elementary students witness the bullying of a child of colour who has newly arrived at their school, and figure out together a creative and positive way to turn things around. The confusion that children feel when the messages they get from school about the need for tolerance conflict with racist messages they receive at home is sensitively dramatized, in a way that can lead to very rich post-viewing discussions.

It is a beautifully directed film, with excellent young actors, that in our experience showing it to many groups of children and adults has never failed to move and inspire people of all ages. I would highly recommend it.

A Gem of a Movie

When I saw A Little Red Dot several years ago, I was amazed. Who would have written such a brilliant plot other than a teacher and filmmaker? Even better, this plot was based on a true event which happened in her class! As the Director/Founder of Artists Against Racism, I was doubly impressed. Great plot, great acting, great cinematography.

This film about children trying to transcend the racism they learned from their parents is one-of-a-kind, and quite important for all children to see. I founded Artists Against Racism specifically to teach children about racism, about what is right, what is wrong (all racism), and how to spot racism and prevent it.

This film is the best one in this category that I've found for children so I can't say enough good about it. It's perfect, it's realistic, and kids can learn volumes from it while watching a great film.
