Storyline
Plot Summary |
Executive Bob Munro is stressed, feeling threatened of losing his job and his lifestyle, since his abusive boss Todd Mallory hired Stanford geek Laird to work for their soda company. Bob has promised his wife Jamie, teenage daughter Cassie, and young son Carl a Hawai'i vacation, but Todd orders him to prepare a presentation and attend a business meeting with the owners of a family company in a merging operation scheduled in the same period. Bob hides the truth from his family, rents a recreational vehicle, and tries to convince his dysfunctional family that a road trip to the Colorado Rocky Mountains would be good to bring old values back to their family. After many incidents and while in the trailer parking area, rookie Bob is helped by the bizarre but friendly Gornicke family. They escape from the Gornickes and initiate a journey of difficulties and learning, retrieving their forgotten family bonds. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil |

Trivia | A life-long fan of camping, Jeff Daniels has owned an RV for years. According to a Detroit radio interview, his RV driving lessons for the movie were quickly canceled when he arrived on location in his personal recreational vehicle. See more » |
Goofs | When Bob and the RV are stuck at the top of a mountain road with all wheels off the ground and he guns the gas pedal the RPM goes up to 6000 RPM, yet the speedometer is still at zero. When you have transmission in gear and wheels turn, regardless of ground contact or not, the speedometer will still register your speed through rotation of rear wheels thru the transmission which is in gear.
