Need to find some ways to entertain your favorite little ghouls this Halloween season? Then look no further! Since one of my favorite things to do when I’m not working is to lose track of time for hours on Pinterest, I come across a lot of fantastic craft ideas for kids that should get them into the Halloween spirit this October, and I picked my favorite ten to share with you here on Daily Dead.
Also, if you missed it last year, here is the first ten Halloween crafting ideas for kids list that I put together to keep those pint-sized hellions happy in the haunting season.

Snow White may have had her fun romping through the Haunted Forest with woodland creatures and whatnot, while Cinderella got some winged assistance with her dress-making and Ariel got cozy with even the slipperiest of fish. Pretty much every Disney dame had a four-legged friend or two on-hand because animated animals are just the cutest. But our girl Pocahontas — now, she was a true environmentalist. more: The 13 Greatest Disney Villain Songs Sure, the Irl story of Pocahontas was slightly (read: a lot) less optimistic than the one Disney spun in the now 20-year-old cartoon classic, but putting aside the revisionist history of the tall tale, we can see that our girl P ...

Less found footage than Pov, Scott Beck & Bryan Woods’ Nightlight takes the perspective of a flashlight midst a round of late night adolescent games in a forest shrouded in urban legend. It’s an urgent run through the woods, a spooky night out in which nature often seems to come alive, and though its conceit…

Here’s one thing I figured I’d never do when talking about Game of Thrones: reference Robert Frost. But how else to begin a discussion about last night’s episode than with the Pulitzer Prize–winning poet’s two roads diverging in a yellow wood/Haunted Forest north of the Wall? Up to this point, those of us who have read George R. R. Martin’s "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series have had an “I’m so smart” grin on our faces heading into each new episode. But as the plot veered deliriously away from the path set out by the source text — more than it had in any other single hour to date on the program — the stark differences (pun intended!) wiped that cookie-eating grin away and made us wonder quite a few things. Will showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss continue to move...

Welcome back to the Game of Thrones TV Book Club, a discussion space for Thrones viewers who have also read the five books (so far) of George R. R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series. This week, Darren Franich and Hillary Busis talk disturbing sex scenes, the value of adaptive changes, and just why Davos deserves better than his TV treatment. (You know there’ll be spoilers for the books and the show, right?) For more Thrones fun, check out James Hibberd’s full recap of “Breaker of Chains” and his interview with newly returned Thrones star Aidan Gillen.

If you are a fan of Game of Thrones, you are no doubt aware that George R.R. Martin’s world is pretty damn huge. With such a diverse array of cultures and landscapes, we experience stories that take place in all manner of fabulous locations, ranging from the imposing Wall of Westeros, to the ancient, eastern city of Qarth.
The books and series so far have shown us a large host of what the world has to offer in terms of memorable settings, but there are some places of particular note which despite having been mentioned off-hand or in maps, have never seen them for ourselves. I would consider it a crime if these places were never visited, but with two books to go (and the series to follow suit), there is ample opportunity for the following to be explored.

The happiest 15 minutes in the history of cinema really pop off the screen in the new 3-D IMAX conversion of "The Wizard of Oz." Those minutes, coming as Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) steps into the Technicolor wonder of the Merry Olde Land of Oz, are as giddy, goofy and gloriously kitschy as ever -- singing and dancing dwarfs, silly trilling Broadway star Billie Burke (as Glenda, the Good Witch), gorgeous primary colors in every pixel of the frame.
And thanks to 3-D and digitally cleaned-up copies of the film, the details are nothing short of stunning, even if the depth of field isn't improved much from when Victor Fleming pointed the camera at those sets 75 years ago. The sheen on the fake plants shimmers, the freckles show beneath Garland's ruby-red made-up cheeks and the stitches stand out in the burlap face of Scarecrow Ray Bolger.

"Game of Thrones" fans have a lot to be excited about. A brand-new 10-episode season is set to premiere Sunday night, bringing viewers back to the wicked world of Westeros for the first time since poor Ned lost his head in the spring of 2011. With the series' de facto protagonist dead and gone, it's time for other characters to step up and fill the void — such as the heroic Robb Stark, the villainous Joffrey Baratheon, and even the morally ambiguous Tyrion Lannister. As "Thrones" moves further along in author George R.R. Martin's original "Song of Ice and Fire" timeline, fans can expect more and more cheers, jeers and flat-out dumbfounding shocks all season long.

Just about everyone I know was more than impressed with the first season of HBO’s Game of Thrones. The Sound On Sight crew voted it one of the best shows of 2011, and we dedicated an entire podcast to discussing the series. With season two on the way, HBO has released a trailer, and thanks to YouTube, us Canadians can finally watch it.
Most of the season one cast is slated to return, along with a slew of new stars including Stephen Dillane, Carice van Houten, Liam Cunningham, Gwendoline Christie, Natalie Dormer, Patrick Malahide, Gemma Whelan, and many more.
Game of Thrones returns April 1 at 9 Pm on HBO.
Here’s the Amazon synopsis for A Clash of Kings, the second book of the series.
The Seven Kingdoms have come apart. Joffrey, Queen Cersei’s sadistic son, ascends the Iron Throne following the death of Robert Baratheon, the Usurper, who won it in battle.

[1] Though I was excited by the earlier teaser [2] for Season 2 of HBO's Game of Thrones, at the risk of sounding like a swooning fangirl, I have to say that even that pales in comparison to this new trailer. This time around, it's Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) who takes over narrating duties, explaining exactly who everyone is and what they're doing -- without actually revealing anything at all, of course. Tricky eunuch bastard. Naturally, Golden Globe and Emmy winner Peter Dinklage gets some good face time as well. Watch the video after the jump. (Warning: Spoilers for Season 1 follow.) [via TV Line [3]] Whether you've read the books or not, it's clear that there's no danger of things slowing down anytime soon on this show. If anything, the situation in the Seven Kingdoms looks more dire than ever. Perhaps Ned Stark was actually lucky to get out early. Based on Book 2 of George R.R. Martin...

[1] HBO's epic fantasy series Game of Thrones was such a big hit when it premiered this past spring that the network renewed [2] it for a second season just days after the first episode aired. But it's been a long three months since the first season ended, and with the advent of the fall TV season, even the most diehard fans probably haven't thought about the series in quite some time. In an effort to remind you of just how much you're looking forward to Season 2, HBO has released a very short new teaser. The video reveals pretty much nothing, aside from what seems to be the marketing slogan for the new season, but I welcome the reminder all the same. Watch it after the jump. The 17-second teaser not only has no new footage, there's actually no footage at all, despite the fact that the series has been shooting since earlier this summer.

Weighing in at just over 800 pages, A Game of Thrones is full of plots and sub-plots, primary and secondary (and tertiary and ancillary) characters, major and minor leitmotifs, and foreshadowing of foreshadowing – to say it is a dense narrative is an understatement in the extreme, particularly considering its status as only the inaugural chapter of a much larger tale. This column (It Is Known: An Analysis of Thrones) will act as a companion piece to both series, novel and television, analyzing each installment’s character beats and plot points as well as scrutinizing the transition from page to script. What it will not do is spoil the story; the hope and intent is elucidation, not ruination.
With five further episodes this season, and a second year already greenlighted (and the much-anticipated and oft-delayed fifth book, A Dance with Dragons, due to release immediately following the season finale), such illumination will be needed.

As we lumber into the home stretch for the tenth season of American Idol, it’s hard not to start feeling nostalgic about past seasons of the show in comparison to this one. That feeling is especially acute (and just plain cute, really) when old Idol alums like Anthony Fedorov — who came in fourth place back in season 4, so long ago that it predates the very blog you’re currently reading (we are all so old, aren’t we!) — randomly pop by the old campus for a visit, only to discover they’ve erected a state-of-the-art Cross-Promotional Studies Center/UFO...

HBO's new fantasy series Game of Thrones creates a massive world with its own jargon and a ton of characters-Jace Lacob's glossary and character gallery explain all!
For the uninitiated, Game of Thrones can be confusing. Based on the long, plot-heavy novels by George R.R. Martin, the HBO show (premiering Sunday at 9 p.m. Edt) is bursting with more characters and settings than you can swing a broadsword at.

Despite what The Beatles sang, not everybody wakes up, gets out of bed and drags combs across their heads. Some people, like Adrien Brody in the newly released "Wrecked," wake up in the aftermath of a horrific car crash and drag their bodies across forests in a feeble attempt to survive. You know, apples and oranges.
Brody stars in "Wrecked," released in New York City theaters and Video On Demand today (April 1) and landing in Los Angeles next Friday (April 8), as a man who wakes up in a wrecked car with a wrecked body and a wrecked memory. With no idea of who he is or how he got there, this nameless man faces slow-impending doom unless he can drag himself out of the woods and back to civilization—not an easy feat, to say the least.
We caught a screening of "Wrecked" earlier this week and really enjoyed a lot of what we saw.

It is October and for those of us who like to read Horror Fiction this is a time of year we look forward to. Why, you ask? Not only is this our favorite time of the year but this is also when Paul Miller of Earthling Publications gets ready to release his latest book in his critically acclaimed and much loved Halloween Series. This is the seventh book in the series which consists of:
#0: Mr. Dark’S Carnival by Glen Hirshberg
#1: Blood Red by James A. Moore
#2: The Unblemished by Conrad Williams
#3: The Haunted Forest Tour by James A. Moore and Jeff Strand
#4: Moontown by Peter Atkins

The only book in the series I don’t have and haven’t read is Mr. Dark’s Carnival. Every other book has been awesome and this years might just be the best one yet.

College kids just never learn. They're always messing around where they shouldn't and wind up getting themselves and their friends killed. The students in the upcoming Box of Shadows seem destined for the same fate.
Supernatural thriller Box of Shadows begins principal photography in Los Angeles on June 29th, 2009, under the direction of Mauro Borrelli. The screenplay was written by Borrelli and Scott Svatos. Borrelli, best known as a visual effects artist, was first brought to the U.S. from Italy by Francis Ford Coppola for Bram Stoker's Dracula, and he has since worked non-stop on some of the biggest movies and with some of the most talented directors in town. His first two features were Goodbye Casanova, starring Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Haunted Forest.

Greetings Fango Fiends! Psycho Bunny here with another look back at the past seven days of deliciously blood-drenched horror goodness. While many of you will be plopped in front of the tele later today soaking your livers in alcohol, munching cheap snacks like a glutton on holiday, watching men fight over the inflatable pigskin, Pb will be enjoying Black Sunday instead.
