I feel weird. Is that good? Hell yes!

I watched this film and felt like I had just awakened from a dream with more questions than answers in my head. This is a good thing! The test of a film to me is if the world in which the film takes place stays with you, haunting you with feelings you don't quite understand. If you're looking for a predictable Hollywood plot, you won't find it here. What you will find is a creepy, surreal landscape of characters that are all familiar and yet strangely unsettling. I suspect that if I ask the director questions about this film, she will probably tell me that it's for me to decided. That suits me just fine. I've already spent a week mulling it over and probably have countless more hours to go! Katherine Allen is a master of mood here! She has a real knack for finding the inherent creepiness in everyday (and not so everyday) characters. She creates a world that makes the viewer feel like a foreigner walking through a place that's spooky and forbidden and yet all too real. Moreover, the cinematography and production design are worth the price of admission!

Remind me to never go to Franklin Lakes! This film gives new meaning to "Weird New Jersey"!
