Dry Whiskey Pours It On

Warning: Spoilers
This film is another winning entry from the very talented Robert Budreau. His talent and skill is evident in so many facets of good quality film making. He begins by choosing a strong story and then embarking on the journey of creatively bringing it to the screen. Reflecting on what is not seen, it becomes clear that he has also chosen wisely in the selection of a talented team on both sides of the camera that capably bring his vision into reality. I have had the good fortune to see three of Mr. Budreau's films and I can see a consistency in the high standards that he sets for himself and his team. This film is beautifully lit and beautifully shot underscoring key elements of the story without giving away the ending. I particularly like the way he gives the viewer the necessary historical background to bring us to the point where the film's story begins. The technique is very effective and efficient in setting the stage for what follows. The quality of the music is very high as well and unobtrusively supports the drama of the moment. The acting is good, with the main characters, the father and son, giving superb performances. The editing, both audio and video, are seamless and easily overlooked because of the level of excellence achieved. Congratulations to the team for an outstanding job. Dry Whiskey is a film viewing experience with an impact. It is a film that I would like to see again.

another calling card film gone boring

Was the previous review written by the director? I just saw this film on TV and just saw another example, so often seen in Canadian film, especially short film. of putting all the money and time into making it look like it was professional without putting one ounce of effort into making it about something. The reviewer expresses admiration for the editing (looked like a trailer for a feature length film but at the same time dragged on and on!!!!) the music ( never stopped playing, a sign that dialogue story and plot were lagging severely) . I would prefer if the film looked like crap but had something to say than this boring exercise in cinematography!
