Simple and sappy story
Miko's father is at his wit's end. He is trying to look after his boy all by himself but recently all Miko seems to do is stand around and stare at things, not saying a word. His father is frustrated but, unknown to him, Miko has problems of his own.
A very simple story this one and, given nobody else has reviewed this film on this site, I'll deliberately not write anything that could spoil it. It is straightforward but Dy has put it together as if it is the most touching story man has ever told or heard. Visually the film is good and it looks more expensive and professional than I suspect it was but Dy overeggs it by having this constant, stifling score playing. It jingles its way across the film, encouraging the audience to see a beauty or depth that simply is not there. It makes it overly sappy and really I would have preferred he bring such things out in the writing.
Young Sam Concepcion is cute but his "frustration" is not convincing again a failing that just makes the music all that more annoying. A basic short film then. It looks good but, no matter how much the music wants you to be touched by it, it is all too simple and sentimental without the depth to justify it.
