Bailey & Spencer's sleazy rival, Shamus Legs Carson weasels in on the case when he hears there's a big reward for finding the starstruck teen.—David Stevens
- Wealthy Silas Rocklin of San Diego has placed a blanket offer to private investigators, including to Bailey and Spencer, to locate his chronic runaway granddaughter, seventeen year old Carol Rocklin, who has yet again run away. He is offering a lucrative reward and unlimited expenses, the only thing he able to provide in locating her being a several year old photograph since she has torn up any recent photo of herself to elude capture. When Stuart and Jeff mention this item to Kookie who may be more tuned in to the goings-on of a teenage girl, Kookie believes he has no other option but to tell them about the young seeming runaway girl he has been helping - she only calling herself Carrie claiming to be from Tuscon, and wanting to get into television as an actress - he housing her at an absent Suzanne's apartment. The pieces fit in Carrie's age, the likeness to the girl in the photo, and that she was a stowaway in Laroque's car. Laroque, a dress designer whose office is at 77 Sunset Strip in Suite 201, doesn't know she was in his car, and he says he just drove from San Diego when he asks Kookie to park his car, that when Kookie found her hidden in the backseat. What they don't know is that a story she told to Kookie of overhearing Laroque talk about a dead man is indeed true, Kookie just thinking it another of her lies. What she doesn't know is that one of Laroque's associates saw her get out of his car and saw her talking to Kookie. As Carrie goes on the run in not wanting Stuart and Jeff to send her back to from where she came, she is being pursued not only by Stuart, Jeff and Kookie, but by rival PI Leggs Carson renowned for letting others do his legwork to swoop in at the last second to claim the glory, and by Laroque and his associate who may be willing to kill if they find Carrie knows too much about the situation with the dead man. Added to the complications is Silas Rocklin, who has come to Los Angeles on Jeff and Stuart's claim that they found Carol, about which he may not take too kindly if she is not in their custody.—Huggo
