A PUNCH IN DA' FACE FOR YOUR FURS!
tcchelsey29 January 2024
This is a cool episode, all about a string of truck hi-jackings. The hi-jackers are as clever as they are rough, beating up truckers and stealing some expensive merchandise. Stu and Jeff are subsequently hired by the truckers union to expose the ring, but they need a little help.

Enter Kookie as a young driver and Roscoe as a cook at a greasy spoon diner to keep watch on some suspicious characters connected to the ring. Kookie and Roscoe have their work cut out for them, without giving too much away. There's also some on location scenes, the ominous dark, remote roads truckers have to travel and what's around the bend.

Great cast with two top females actresses; Virginia Vincent as Rosalie and 50s cult movie star Mala Powers as Margo. Another staple in sci fi films, Paul Birch plays the head man, Zachary, also Robert Foulk as the sheriff, a role he always seemed to turn up in.

Interestingly, this was the very first directing credit for Alan Rafkin, who within a few years switched to sitcoms and became a star. Rafkin was behind such classics as BOB NEWHART, COACH and ONE DAY AT A TIME. For his directing debut, Rafkin did a super job with this cast, and keep your eye on Roscoe.

Recommened 10 Stars. SEASON 4 EPISODE 28 remastered.

Hijacking and romance
bkoganbing8 July 2017
The Trucker's Association hires Bailey&Spencer to investigate a series of hijackings that has left many a driver beaten up and their cargoes stolen. Roger Smith is the lead investigator, but Edd Byrnes is undercover as an apprentice driver. I'm not sure how hotrodding qualifies as experience with those big rigs. Louis Quinn goes undercover as a short order cook at a roadside hash house run by Frank Ferguson and Virginia Vincent.

There's a personal element in this story with Mala Powers as the wife of the biggest trucking outfit's president Paul Birch. She's been seeing Philip Carey on the side.

It's a close call for the team as Roscoe and Kookie are discovered and Jeff Spencer has to go it alone for a bit. Of course it all works out.

Virginia Vincent stands out here as she gives Roscoe the once over.
