The red vintage car the team use when pretending be rich art owners appears to be a 1930s Duesenberg Model J, but is a reproduction Duesenberg II model, which were made between 1975 and 2000. The difference between 1930s car and the reproduction is evident in the dashboard when it is seen- this car has modern instruments and radio/tape-deck.
Near the start of the episode, B.A. explains Murdock's insanity by saying that he was brain damaged in a plane crash. Earlier episodes have stated that Murdock had several crashes during the war, and so whilst it's not confirmed if this is true or just B.A. teasing Murdock, there is every possibility and probability that this would be reason for Murdock's insanity.
The happy face that Murdock painted on B.A.'s van at the end resembles B.A.
This episode features the song "The Heat is On" which was written by Glenn Frey (another version of the song is used instead of Frey's version) for the 1984 film Beverly Hills Cop starring Eddie Murphy. Both this episode and the movie take place in and were filmed in Beverly Hills as well as used the city name in the title.
Lloyd Bochner and Dirk Benedict previously worked together on Battlestar Galactica (1978).
