In Malloy's narration, he notes he has only been on the police force five years longer than Reed. It was previously mentioned in the series that he had been on the force for seven years when Reed became his partner.
In the opening parade scene, the people in the background are out of order between the shots of Malloy, Reed and Porter.
It is stated that Malloy is on the job 5 years, but In the flashback scene with training Officer Brown, he is sitting in his current modern Adam -12 patrol car, unit 817.
At the Union Block & Cement Co., as the 2 police cars pull into the yard, and from the first angle (long shot) there is a blue sedan and a long white sedan parked in the street. Cut to the next close up shot and the white car is gone and a silver sedan is now in its place. Also, the police cars pull in and park in two different spots between the two camera angles.
At Porter's funeral, Malloy presents the United States flag to Porter's widow. This duty is usually preformed by the chief of police, who doesn't even appear to be present.
At Officer Porter's funeral, his casket is covered with the American flag, indicating that Porter is a veteran. However, no military honor guard was present.
At the funeral, the bugler plays "Taps." The pallbearers all salute, as is the custom. But as the camera pans the uniformed officers in attendance, none of them are rendering the proper salute.
When Malloy and Reed go to the Porters' house for dinner, they are referred to as single men. Reed was already married when he was assigned as Malloy's partner.
A camera man can briefly be seen in the reflection of the back window of the Cadillac as it drives away at the end of the funeral ceremony.
At the Union Block & Cement company, from the wide shot to the "zoom in" on the two squad cars pulling in, there appears to be a person sitting in the yard tower who looks to ward the officers as they pull in the facility. The officers never ask of the person for any help or information nor does this person approach the officers to offer any assistance.
Gold Mustang with white top crew car is seen once again. This time Reed and Malloy arrive at Tom Porter's house bringing boxes of chicken. In this case, it appears to be Malloy's personal car.
In the bank robbery/hostage scene, Porter is seen jumping a wall and apprehending the suspect in front of the green Ford station wagon with brown paneling and the green Porsche 911. These cars, among others, are often seen in the background.
During the funeral ceremony, a black camera cord can be seen just after the flag is removed from the casket and folded. Also, a light (or similar equipment) is seen on a tripod in the back left of of this quick sequence...to the left of the tall pine tree.
Malloy says he had been on the department 12 months probation plus 4 years when he trained Reed, for a total of 5 years. In the pilot episode when he met Reed, it showed he had been on 6 years.
In several other episodes it is established that Lt. Moore was Malloy's training officer/first partner, but in this episode he says his first partner was Officer Howard D. Brown (Brownie).
Throughout this episode Malloy recounts his friendship with, and killing of, Tom.
However, Tom is never mentioned in the series outside of this episode.
