The Lovely Maid Marian
ccthemovieman-111 February 2010
Bernadette O'Farrell makes her first appearance as Robin Hood's childhood friend, a woman he always had a crush on, and vice-versa.

They hadn't seen each other in years and now they appear to be on the opposite sides of the fence, particularly when her jewels are robbed by Robin's "Outlaws." However, when Robin finds out who the loot belongs to, he tells the men he's going to give it back to her. She doesn't know this, however, as has plans of her own: to visit and find out exactly where Robin Hood's men camp in Sherwood Forest, and then bring that information back to the Sheriff!

Zounds - that traitor!!!

How does Robin turn the tables on the pretty Marian - and win her heart at the same time? Tune into this corny and a bit juvenile episode and find out. This will bring you back to your youth, if you are as old as I am. Yeah, it's a silly but it's fun to watch. It's said this old TV series was more for kids, but I know that adults enjoyed it years ago and still would today.

O'Farrell, as Irish lass, made almost 50 appearances in this series. She did a few other acting gigs but this was her main job and the one she is remembered for, more than anything else TV-or-film-wise. She could have done more episodes but decided to go back to her family. A year later she was married and then had a couple of kids, eventually living in Monaco. From all accounts, she was a nice lady who was married just that once, for 47 years until her husband died. They had two children. Her role of "Maid Marion" was very popular both in the UK and in the United States.

Good to see a feisty damsel!

Warning: Spoilers
Robin's childhood friend, Maid Marion, makes her first appearance in the series. Robin's outlaws have stolen money from Maid Marion that she needed to pay taxes with. Robin had enormous respect for her father who he remembers as a kind and honorable man and tells his men to give the money back. Marion doesn't know this and plans her revenge by discovering the outlaws' hideout and then informing the Sheriff. Part of her scheme goes as planned but then she learns how wrong she was about Robin and helps him escape. Of course, they fall for each other. I like the orderly progression of the series. And I really like that the heroine is energetic, brave and outspoken - and a perfect match for the gallant Robin Hood. And she's a nice person.

Maid Marian

This episode introduces a feisty Maid Marian played by Bernadette O'Farrell.

Marian has been robbed off her jewels that she was going to use to pay her taxes.

She is angry at the Sheriff of Nottingham to let the outlaws roam free. Meanwhile Robin who has known Marian from childhood wants the merry men to return the loot.

Marian has her own plans to capture Robin and she disguises herself as a boy. She goes off to Sherwood forest locate the outlaws and tells the Sheriff.

I have feeling that Marian will soon see Robin's true nature. Marian also shows her own skills with the arrow.

It is a decent romp, Robin even gets tied up by the Sheriff's men while Marian requests two big men. It is so very Blackadder.
