This episode had the shortest "lead time" of any show in the series; filming wrapped a mere 15 days before the scheduled broadcast and 14 of those days were spent in editing, re-dubbing and other post-production chores.
Within this episode, it is revealed that Hannibal Heyes and Kid Curry share a mutual grandfather of Irish heritage. This is in keeping with the altered opening narration introduced with the episode "The Biggest Game in the West" two weeks earlier introducing Roger Davis as Heyes. Curry and Heyes were henceforth referred to as "Kansas cousins", whereas they were previously called "latter-day Robin Hoods". Davis was hastily cast in the role in the wake of actor Peter Duel's tragic suicide, having previously providing the original series' narration. Heyes also refers to his Kilkenny-born grandfather when providing the wisdom he provided (and this episode's title): "Don't get mad; get even".
