This is part 2 of a 3 part series that shouldn't have even been made. Perhaps it could have worked if it were confined to 1 episode but stretching this weak tale over 3 episodes was a ridiculous idea. In this second part,Archie is trying to lie to Edith about his recent whereabouts. He is trying to cover-up a brief,10-minute visit to the apartment of a waitress. Explaining where he's been should be almost-impossible to screw-up,but somehow Edith isn't buying it.
Archie could have simply stuck to whatever story he told her and left it at that, ignoring Edith's screeching like any normal person would. In real-life,that would have been the end of it.
However, the supposedly 'New York-slick' Archie Bunker cracks like a rotten-egg after telling Edith several weak stories, each tale worse than the last.
After hearing all of this,Edith doesn't believe a word, and imagines all sorts of crazy scenarios between Archie and the waitress when all that actually happened was a small illicit kiss.
This whole 3 episode series is absolutely ludicrous. Archie could have easily put an end to all this nonsense in this episode and there would have been no need for us to watch yet another episode to get through this weak tale.
Absolutely awful.
