Sada Thompson was originally cast in the role of Irene Lorenzo. She was reportedly unhappy with the role and asked out of the series after one episode was shot. The episode in which she participated had to be reshot with Betty Garrett in the role.
This was the first appearance of Frank and Irene Lorenzo, played by Vincent Gardenia and Betty Garrett respectively.
The house next door that the Lorenzos moved into formerly belonged to Edith's friend Clara Weidermeyer, who we haven't seen since appearing on two consecutive season one episodes ("Edith Has Jury Duty" and "Archie is Worried About His Job"). It is unknown how long the house had been vacant.
