This is my forth favorite episode in the series, this episode looks like one David Cronenburg could of directed as it does have the element of body horror and the psychological concept of dual identity. This story was of course inspired by "Dr. Jekell and Mr. Hyde" but may'be even a bit on the Cinderella tale but taking a more darker approach to it.

It was fun seeing Sardo again, seeing certain supporting characters reoccur in anthologies is always interesting because it expands the universe the original story occupies.

I really like Keith whom is a sympathetic because he's crippled, not just from the outside but worst of all inside as he feels this handicap not just keeps him from doing certain things but prevents him from attaining certain things he desires from life most notably the girl he desires, because they wouldn't stop noticing his leg and may treat him different. And that's understandable that really sucks, not just the fact that you won't have certain advantages that any regular person can have but how you wouldn't be perceived as human.

This all the more gives us motivation for us to want him to win because he's one of the underdogs that deserves something great in his life. But at the same time we are also highly concerned about him as he is constantly taking this potion even though it has manifested the internal beauty in him, the time it wears off it also manifest the internal darkness in him.

The makeup effects on Keith's flip side transformation are solid, as we see hair growing in certain places it should but the most funky and gross of all is just seeing what it's doing with his skin and face as we see him slowly become a monster. Basically this transformation is a metaphor on the darkness we all carry inside; the anger, bitterness, sadness, loss every negative aspect that we repress within ourselves. These are all the things Keith has been feeling every since his injury and though that he perceives himself as ugly; this blinds him from seeing his own inner beauty, keeping him from letting himself be loved by anyone because he is unable to love himself.

I also like his friend/possible significant other Mariah, whom I though was really pretty even with the glasses. She would be the kind of girl that would be considered a geek or just wouldn't be on the popularity list. But that don't matter to me as she is literally the girl next door has a kind sweet persona and I really like the back and forth between Keith and her, you can tell both have a close friendship. You already know that she is right for him but unfortunately he just doesn't know it, because unfortunately he's looking for love in all the wrong places.

This all the more make you want her to win as well and makes us hope Keith will stop to think and notice Mariah. It then comes down to a moment when Mariah does something desperate and aggressive when she goes into Keith's locker and drinks the whole potion herself. She really looks great in a Dress as well as without the glasses, in a way she's sort of the modern Cinderella.

But then it gets to a dangerous moment when we see the potion take it's negative effect on her which will not just transform her but due to the amount she took could kill her. We get really concerned for her life and it comes down of course to an emotional moment when Keith then opens up to her which he hasn't done with anyone. This of course helps her open up with how she feels about him. We then of course see Keith produce a tear which falls on her shoulder; and of course if you know your fairy tales tears are the essence of love and that one tear of course saves Mariah and in turn Mariah's love for Keith saves him. In the end both not just found their inner beauty but found each other.

Beauty within does exist we just have to look deeply. But also true love is a lot closer than you think.
