Strong supporting cast!

When An episode first comes on and I realize that Barnaby isn't going to be in it much,I think"oh crap" I love Betty and believe it or not I've grown to like jr but sometimes when they are left to carry the show,it ain't the greatest! That being said other times it comes off quite well! Especially with a good supporting cast! The Morgan Fairchild character was fantastic!!!! Not hard to see why over 40 years later Morgan Fairchild is still a household name! She is a fantastic actresss and I really loved her character! It made this a very enjoyable episode for me to watch!!!!

THE BLACKMAIL ANGLE!

Interesting story for all us JR fans, especially giving Barnaby a break after what he went through in the last epsiode! A cold blooded murder is made to look like a suicide, and JR --picking up some lessons from Barnaby -- suspects far worse, along the lines of blackmail. True, blackmailers never seem to have a long life on most cop shows. Right?

I do agree with the last reviewer, the old throw the guy off a ledge bit has been used before on the series, actually with more female victims. Nevertheless well written by Dick Nelson, who obviously gave Mark Shera a bigger role for a change and Mark is a good actor. Nelson later wrote for TJ HOOKER, which had its fair share of suicides and murder capers.

Great cast, featuring lovely Morgan Fairchild (FALCON CREST). As of 2023, Morgan was appearing on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Additionally, soap opera star Quinn Redeker (YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS) guests stars, always the dramatic actor. Quinn passed in 2022.

Dick Lowry directed, who did three episodes for the show. Best known for the popular tv movie THE GAMBLER, starring Kenny Rogers.

SEASON 7 EPISODE 2 remastered color/CBS. 2018 dvd release.

Well, this one sure starts off badly

The opening scene of "A Dangerous Affair" is dumb and rather sloppy. A man has come to realize someone is a crook. Now instead of calling the police like any sane person would do, he confronts the man in private on a skyscraper with the ledge nearby! And, it wouldn't take Nostradamus to guess what's going to happen next! Yep, the accuser is promptly tossed off the building to his death! While this sounds really dumb, it is worse...as this is the second time "Barnaby Jones" did such a scene!

So why did the man murder his accuser? And, do you think this will finally end up being a guy who isn't apprehended by Barnaby Jones? Tune in to see for yourself.

If you look past the sloppily made opening scene, the rest of the show is pretty decent.

JR Centric

Too much JR not enough Barnaby. JR can't stop believing he's a lover boy macho man and that every girl should fall in love with him. It would be nice if he'd learn how to be a PI from Barnaby as the series unfolds.
