Bugs and Roaches
kevinolzak19 April 2014
"Bugs" begins with an exterminator (Sammy Smith) working against the roaches roaming the building, uncovering two listening devices aka 'bugs' in the squad room. Inspector Luger wonders if Internal Affairs or Washington is looking for dirt, while everyone speaks in whispers. Nick grows despondent about the fate of one particular cockroach ("they kinda grow on ya...one of 'em always crawls up that leg while I'm making coffee in the morning and tries to steal a cube of sugar...it's about as close as I've ever come to having a pet!"). Paula Capshaw (Paula Shaw, previously seen in "Quarantine") is hauled in with two other 'ladies of the evening,' one of whom, Roberta Kerlin (Mari Gorman), is a housewife with four children whose first pickup turns out to be a cop. Her husband Bob (Robert Costanzo, first of three) doesn't believe her boasts that they finally caught up with "the hottest property this side of the Adirondacks!" (Roberta: "you see? Try to get a compliment if you can!"). The third prostitute, Miss Duquette, is played by Lavelle Roby, repeating the role she played in "The Courtesans," while Mari Gorman, here making her series debut, would play Officer Rosslyn Licori 3 times, and Mrs. Naomi Bender twice.
