Elements of the instrumental score "The Promise" from the feature film Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993) can be heard when Bruce announces his intention to give up being Batman.
This episode marks the second time Poison Ivy has created plant-based artificial humans. She previously used a similar subterfuge in the Batman: The Animated Series (1992) episode, House & Garden (1994). While this was not romantic in nature, there was a brief scene at the end where Ivy looks in regret at not having a settled life as her facade was.
When Bruce is knocking at Veronica's door, the mansion explodes and there's a frame from the explosion of Ivy's greenhouse that comes up only later in this episode.
This episode marks the fifth time Poison Ivy has tangled with Bruce Wayne. First in Batman: The Animated Series (1992) episode, Pretty Poison (1992), she targeted Harvey Dent and Bruce for destroying the Wild Thorney Rose; next in Eternal Youth (1992), she targets him because of an environmental crime done without his knowledge from Wayne Enterprises: in House & Garden (1994) one of her plant creatures kidnaps Dick Grayson and demands a ransom from Bruce; and in Holiday Knights (1997), Ivy uses a kiss on him after a Christmas party similar to what she did to Harvey Dent, only in this case it was mind control. She and Harley Quinn then bamboozle Bruce Wayne into maxing out his credit cards so they can have a Christmas shopping spree.
