Robert Loggia is excellent as he plays a famed hired gunman, Vern Hickson, that kills for money in this exciting episode.
Vern Hickman has just gun-down a man and his making his way to his next job. When he comes across the dead man's sons that try to kill him. Heath Barkley happens to be riding along the same road and comes to the aid of Hickman. Heath is able to distract the boys until Vern can get his gun and shoot both guys. But in the shootout Vern was also shot and Heath will take care of his wounds. It is only after mending his gunshot does Heath find out that he is a hired gunman.
Even with the known fact, Heath take him back to the Barkley Ranch and with the help of Audra and Victoria makes sure that Hickman is well before letting him ride off to his next gig. Which just so happens to be Rance Kendell the same person that has it in for Heath after his son was killed. Heath knows that Hickson's next job will be a contract on Heath's life.
A excellent story with some fine acting. Loggia, with his demeanor and shifty look, is perfectly cast as the hired gunman looking for a fight. The entire cast was at their best in this program that at then ending has more than one meaning to the viewer.
