Last week, in the first of this two-part episode, two couples were both killed, all having their throats slashed. Police and CSI have pretty much figured out the suspects, but a Liberal judge isn't helping their cause. Now - someone has broken into a house and killed the killers!
This latest crime scene is examined by the CSI crew. Extra cops were at the outside of the house watching the suspect but were called away on a wild goose chase. They are examined and cleared of any wrong-doing.
Meanwhile, Catherine and Sara are called off that case to go check a "bloated floater," a dead body at an off-campus house. There, they discover a really gruesome sight. A grotesque, bloated dead body - which I'm surprised was shown on TV - lies in a bathtub. The other roommate (s) had been away for a few days, only to come back and discover this mess....and it is a mess. What happened here? It turns out that sports bars can be dangerous places!
Back to the original case, without spoiling anything, it turns out to be a puzzling case that almost has Brass and Gil at odds, but they solve it.
It's not as riveting as a two-part story should be, but it was still interesting. Diverting this main story with a short secondary one was puzzling. Why? All it did was take away from the intensity and continuity of the first one. If its worth having two programs to cover a crime, don't dilute it without another one at the last minute.
