- An old friend of Charlie, magician Wendell Muse - the Master of Fire - currently appearing at the Magic Castle, asks the Angels and Bosley for their assistance in discovering the identity of an arsonist nicknamed the Magic Man, who has been setting insurance fires across the country for years. The nickname is due to evidence that the arsonist is a magician, and for the unknown nature of how the fires are started. After a hiatus in the fires, the police believe the Magic Man is at work again and is behind the three fires set in three weeks at different warehouses of Fashion City, owned by Joseph Watson. With insufficient evidence to charge him, the police have once again been harassing Wendell believing him to be the Magic Man due to his having been in many of the same cities where the fires occurred including the three most recent. As a magician, his act often centered on illusions of fire. The Angels learn that some of the earlier fires were set at facilities also owned by Watson, leading them to believe he may have hired the Magic Man to set the fires to collect the insurance. Sabrina goes undercover as a haughty French fashion designer to infiltrate Fashion City. A suspect emerges in "The Great Danzini", another magician on the same performance tour as Wendell. Danzini is known to live the high life, but, with a faltering act, he can no longer afford his lavish lifestyle. Kelly's cover has her working on Danzini, while Bosley and Kris have access to the Magic Castle and the people there, including Danzini's assistant, Mary Ann Webb. The Angels and Bosley also cannot discount the possibility that Wendell is truly the Magic Man and that he hired them solely as a smokescreen to hide his guilt.—Huggo (updated by R.M. Sieger)
