Eddie is going away to camp for the weekend. Tom takes advantage by inviting over Brenda (Brenda Benet). He's quickly interrupted by a call from Norman informing him that a sprinkler mishap has ruined their magazine layout. Tom asks Brenda to stay and he'll be as quick as possible. He returns with Norman and Tina to find Brenda has left. She phones and Tom says he'll finish the work and call her in the morning. Norman and Tina nearly instantly fall asleep and are no help to Tom who stays up all night working. He phones Brenda to say how exhausted he is and they agree to meet later for cocktails. Mrs. Livingston has arrived to straighten up the kitchen cabinets. Tom tries to discreetly tell Mrs. Livingston to leave so he can entertain Brenda who will arrive soon. When the doorbell rings, Tom opens it to find young Joey holding her suitcase. She says she's staying the weekend and hands him a note from her dad thanking Tom for keeping her. He says she can't stay, further upsetting Joey who is afraid her dad and his fiancee Sherry (Claire Brennen) is sneaking off to get married. She wanted to stay to remind her of the times it was just her and her dad. Tom understands and agrees, but Brenda thinks there is another woman and things comically begin going even further downhill.
Well-scripted show about a perfect weekend crumbling apart and how different people come together to complicate things. Not much of a moral-driven effort, just a fun episode with some laughs.
