The money is being moved to the "Eastgate Branch," but that bank was destroyed earlier in "A. Wilson Manager?" If it had been rebuilt, why was Wilson not returned to the job there.
After spending all night in the church hall counting money from the bank after it had been bombed, Capt. Mainwaring and the platoon are seen coming from the church hall the following morning carrying a chest containing the money to a horse and cart. Behind them the church hall can be seen with none of the windows taped up, and yet when inside the hall the windows were taped.
Near the end as the cart heads down the road there appears to be a modern car (1960's) parked on the roadside in the distance.
The vault held over £96,000 in 3 denominations of notes and 8 denominations of coins. The highest being a £5 note (Higher notes were about until 1943 but weren't included in Captain Mainwaring's balance sheet), this would be a considerable amount to count (even if it was all in £5 notes, that's 19,200 bank notes) and is the equivalent of £4.8 million in 2020 pounds.
Would a bank in small seaside town carry that amount of cash let alone have the secure facilities to store it.
When they were taking the money to the Eastgate Bank they didn't use Corporal Jones Butcher van but used a handcart. This was explained by a line saying Jones had lent his van to someone else.
There is a sight gag where Jones gets up from the counting table with the tablecloth still tucked into his trousers, scattering the money to the floor. To ensure the effect Clive Dunn (Jones) is seen to take hold of the cloth as he stands up.
