This plot was borrowed from a 1963 episode of The Virginian titled "The Evil That Men Do" in which Robert Redford portrays a part very similar to Jamie Blue played here by Christopher Connelly. Matthew Cordell (Redford) has been incarcerated since the age of 15 and was confined to an orphanage since birth before that. Jamie Blue was born and raised in a prison. Redford is taken to Shiloh where he shows his expertise in caring for horses by nursing a horse with a broken leg back to health. Connelly (Jamie Blue) also works tirelessly to doctor the wounds a doomed horse. Then like Redford he gets in to a fight over a girl that was trying to teach him how to dance at a big party. Both stories were written by Frank Chase who also appeared in the episode of The Virginian. The girl that Redford was fighting over was Patricia Blair aka Rebecca Boone.
