- Kitty has been selected for the Evelyn Hofstadter humanitarian award and the committee selects Dharma to introduce Kitty on stage. Dharma promises to bathe and wear a bra. Kitty is scared and faxes a speech to Dharma. Dharma doesn't want to do a boring speech; some wants to do a personal tribute for Kitty. Dharma asks Edward and Celia for warm stories about Kitty but comes up with nothing. Celia asks Dharma to check for old photos in the attic.
Dharma pushes her mother-in-law's fortitude to the absolute limit when she presents Kitty with an award at a country-club luncheon. Dharma shows a selection of her old photos showing Kitty as a poor child, living above a gas station, and eating beef jerky. There was also an old video of Kitty dancing in a tutu on the driveway of her home. Even the mayor of the town was attending the award ceremony.
Kitty is embarrassed and vows never to speak to Dharma again. Dharma tries very hard to make contact with Kitty, but she keeps avoiding her. Greg tells Dharma to give it time and it will all blow over. Kitty prefers to deal with such situations by pretending that they never happened, but Dharma wants to force the issue. So, Dharma sneaks into her car before she back out of her driveway and ends up scaring kitty, who wrecks the car. Greg advises to let the matter rest for a few weeks and then Kitty would pretend it never happened, but Dharma wants to get closure. Greg says that Dharma calls herself open minded, but clearly, she is not. She cannot accept that Kitty does things differently to her. Dharma decides to give it a try.
After 2 weeks they all go for dinner together and by dessert Dharma is tired of the idle chit chat and throws food at Kitty to evoke a reaction. Kitty is outraged and throws food back at Dharma and admonishes her for humiliating her in front of her friends. She says that she lived across the gas station and her father owned every gas station till the Canadian border. She took her cousin to prom as he had Mononucleosis. Edward and Greg sit through the food fight, enjoying their pie.
Pete and Jane decide to get a divorce after 6 weeks of wedding. Pete says that the last 2 weeks they were simply going through the motions. Jane asks Greg to be her lawyer and he doesn't have a choice in the matter, since Pete is already a lawyer. Pete is happy since he thinks Greg will help him get a good deal with Jane.
Pete tries to trick Jane by getting her to pay alimony and having a provision for marital services even after the divorce. Greg points these out to Jane but begs her to hire a lawyer other than himself. She wants Greg to take Pete for everything he has got, antagonizing Pete against Greg.
Jane and Pete start hiding their prized assets from each other, to save them from the divorce proceedings. Greg spends a fortnight making up the divorce settlement, but then Pete and Jane go for a trip to Cabo (it was a gift from his mother) and they end up getting back together.
