- Dr. Sloan witnesses the suspicious death of a financial con man. However, the body disappears, with only his personal diary remaining. Mark must prove that he is dead, while his wife and associates claim that he is just away on business.
- Mark tries rollerskating, even to work when his car won't start again. Then he tries a traditional Indian purification rite on an Ogala Sioux patient Clarke to relieve his sinusitis, in front of his med class. After a root canal, Mark gets a call and visit at home from TV investment guru Robin Westlin, who believes he's been poisoned and dies right there; but when the paramedics arrive both his car and corpse have disappeared. Steve thinks it's a laughing gas induced hallucination, but Mark finds Robin's dropped pocket diary. Westlin's chief deputy Tim Rutland, his secretary as well as his wife Meg, claim Robin is alive, but he's nowhere to be found. So the Sloans, Jack as 'psychiatric outpatient Mark's shrink' and 'reporter' Amanda snoop on at the Westlin Institute.—KGF Vissers
- Robin Westlin, a celebrity financial guru who gives questionable business seminars, comes to Dr. Sloan's home with a medical emergency. Despite Mark's efforts, Robin dies, but his body is gone when the police arrive. Because Mark had been on drugs from some dental work, Steve and the police assume that Mark had been hallucinating. After they leave, Mark finds Robin's personal diary. Armed with the information learned in the diary, Mark attempts to contact those close to Robin, but no one will admit that Robin is dead; they claim that Robin is busy on some important business opportunity. Jack and Amanda attempt to get information from Robin's wife and his business partner. Amanda manages to get tickets to Robin's seminar, where the team intends to confront Robin's absence once and for all. At the seminar, Robin is introduced and shown on a projection screen, supposedly live. Mark has to confront Robin's partner and expose the seminar as a fraud. Then he must determine which of the three close associates (wife, partner, or secretary/lover) killed Robin.—thesemann
