"I'm not angry...just very, very hurt!"
ShadeGrenade1 June 2010
Warning: Spoilers
The St. Swithins students are throwing a party. In the kitchen, Duncan washes glasses which he then throws to Hooley to dry. The Irishman's mind is not on the job. He is so smitten with fellow student Jenny ( Susan George ) he plans on announcing their 'unofficial' engagement. But Jenny is getting friendly with Mike. When Hooley sees this, he gives him a black eye. The doctors-to-be become rivals for her affections...

A good episode, mainly as it gives the neglected character of Hooley something to do ( even if he does spend most of it sulking like a child who's had his favourite teddy bear stolen ). Lovely Susan George was about to embark on a successful movie career when she made this ( Sam Peckinpah's 'Straw Dogs' was only a year in the future ). Adam Verney had appeared twice before, once as 'Kenneth' the boring student who keeps offering people crisps and nuts as they try to snog each other. That Jenny should find him preferable to Upton is slightly unbelievable.

Funniest moment - Upton and Hooley trying to outfox each other at a posh restaurant by each ordering foreign dishes with tongue-twisting names.
