This episode almost sparked a spinoff series called "Double-O-Ducks," in which Launchpad McQuack would team up with another duck spy, James Pond. This idea was scrapped, when it was learned that "Double-O" was a copyrighted name, created by Ian Fleming, and owned by Albert R. Broccoli, producer of the James Bond films. Instead, elements of "Double-O-Ducks" were added to the series, Darkwing Duck (1991).
The criminal organization F.O.W.L. (the Foreign Organization for World Larceny) later reappeared in the series, Darkwing Duck (1991), where it was called the Fiendish Organization for World Larceny.
Huey, Dewey, and Louie do not appear in this episode.
J. Gander Hoover is a reference to J. Edgar Hoover, the founding director of the FBI.
