In later interviews, Helmut Berger admitted that he only took on the part of Peter de Vilbis for the money. After a failed suicide attempt and drug and alcohol issues, he was in financial straits. He thought the show was risible and said he was "crying on the way to the set but laughing all the way to the bank".
The opening credits now feature 13 actors. Jack Coleman gets bumped up the chain and now appears just after Gordon Thomson's credit.
It was only discovered after his casting that Helmut Berger had difficulty remembering his lines. This was swiftly rectified by having his character written out after just 9 episodes.
