Two of the most exciting TV actresses of the Eighties appeared in DYNASTY. Catherine Oxenberg and Heather Locklear. Both of them were quite adept at portraying wayward young heiresses. Unfortunately, one of them had the nerve to go insist from Mr. Spelling a (substantial) raise for all her efforts if she was to come back for Season 7, and, well, she got her walking ticket, and the show lost one of its prize gems, replaced with an inferior... Okay, I shouldn't be that crass. Karen Cellini at least seems to be improving a bit. A tiny little bit. Not much, but a little bit.
Heather Locklear is fortunately still with the series. Ooh, she was the good girl, and she got her reward for her loyalty years later when Mr. Spelling remembered her when it came to casting Amanda Woodward in MELROSE PLACE.
Of course, nobody could do anything else but remember Heather Locklear. So would you. In this episode, clearly, it is the prelude to what is going to happen with Sammy Jo re Danny. Sammy Jo learns that she isn't really pregnant, and, at first, refuses to accept it. Ironic, given that so many girls would have been oh-so-relieved. But Sammy Jo wanted the baby, to make up for having lost Danny to Steven. It takes very little to guess what is coming next, given SJ's fiery nature, and her desire to be a mother.
But that scene opposite the doctor. I really recommend watching Heather if you think that an old show like this can have no appeal. That last scene, as she exits the office, furious at being thwarted (by nature, though she blames it on the doctor): The fire in that one! Listen, I know I'm a besotted old fool living in the past, but DVD means it is all truly timeless, and Heather Locklear definitely ranks as (at the very least) one of the most exciting girls ever on film!
A must-see scene for all Heather Locklear fans. All together now: Sigh, what a beautiful girl. Sad that it isn't 1986 anymore, hey?
