While looking at the rotten food in the fridge, Marshall says, "Where's Donna Reed when you need her?" This is refers to Reed's role as the perfect housewife Donna Stone in The Donna Reed Show (1958). Reed's final role was as Miss Ellie Ewing Farlow in the eighth season of Dallas (1978), in which Omri Katz (Marshall) played her grandson John Ross Ewing.
The twin sons of the Foreverware Lady, Mrs Wilson, are named Bertram and Ernest, a reference to the characters Bert and Ernie from either It's a Wonderful Life (1946) or Sesame Street (1969).
At the Foreverware party all the housewives are dressed in the fashion and makeup popular in the year they started using the product.
