"The Fatal Connection" is a very good episode of "The F. B. I." but I think the best reason to watch this show is to see the amazing lineup of character actors...folks people my age remember well. The guest stars included in the open credits include Andrew Duggan, Scott Marlowe, Dana Eclar and Sorrell Booke...but a couple other VERY familiar faces are there as well.... Barbara Billingsley and Gary Crosby!! Wow...that is some lineup!
When the story begins, two hitmen break into a reporter's house and shoot him. But before they can finish the job, the victim's son intervenes and clobbers the lead man (Marlowe)...and the pair run. Among the broken glass, they find a very specific and unusual contact lens....which lead the FBI to the man. But after they capture him, he isn't much help, as the guy who hired him was cagey and didn't reveal himself. So the FBI has to keep working to figure out who's behind this attempted murder.
While I loved most of the show, there was one HUGE plot problem. The injured hitman who lost his contact lens was pretty much blind without it...practically Stevie Wonder blind! The camera showed the world through his eyes and he was clearly legally blind without the lens. BUT, later, before he gets a replacement lens, they show him driving a car and then he steals a motorcycle and manages to do amazingly well for a blind-ish guy!!! In fact, it is too well...so much that I laughed at the plot hole. Plus, it wasn't like he had a seeing eye dog helping him drive!! Otherwise an exciting episode...and one I recommend you see.
