- Christopher Donlon: I just want a job.
- Lydia Grant: Well, who doesn't? What did you expect? That you were gonna get out of school and the job was gonna be waving your name, waiting for you somewhere?
- Mr. Dyrenforth: I see you bought Elizabeth Sherwood's novel.
- Mrs. Berg: Oh, Miss Sherwood sent me this copy from her new home in Maine, but I've been so busy I haven't even been able to pick it up.
- Mr. Dyrenforth: Oh, well, a-actually, it's got some very fine writing.
- Mrs. Berg: Yeah, but is it hot?
- Mr. Dyrenforth: [leans forward] When you pick it up, make sure you're wearing asbestos clothes.
