Hell Toupee (#5.1)

Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Myra confronts Laura for taking Steve away. It all results in a huge school fight in the cafeteria. It was actually pretty funny. In also like the fact that while at the end they kind of calmed down we can still see that they are not friends yet and there will be more confrontations to come!

And Carl goes through his hair issues. I loved him trying all the toupees in this episode. It was a real highlight for me, especially the one that made him look like Rick James. Of course at the end he decides that he will rather be natural and not have low self esteem about his hair. It is good, but I just wondered why he didn't mention to his wife that she doesn't need to spend hours getting ready and put on make up. I guess women still need to be uncomfortable and waste time on looks.

Food fight!

One of the best episodes for watching Laura contradict herself. Myra accuses Laura of having designs on Steve. Laura never denies the accusation. She jumps right into a fight with Myra. In my opinion, Myra was very one-dimensional and irritating. However, in this situation, she had a point. As much as Laura claims she has no interest in Steve, she always seems to be with him. Steve is the one doing the chasing, but Laura doesn't look like she's in too much pain. Here, she's doing the same thing Myra is: fighting over a guy. We all know who that guy is! Steve and Laura had chemistry. Myra was in the way, and Steve made it clear to her that she would never be anything more than his second choice. The heart wants who it wants.

Warning: Spoilers
In the debut episode of Familly Matters we have two storylines: The main one sees Steve stuck between his obsession over Laura and Myra's obssession over him, the second one is about Carl feeling insecure when Harriet makes a crack about him not having hair. First of all let me say that I really hated the whole "let's pretend Judy never existed" , yes it's true that she probably had as much lines in the whole 4 seasons she was in that Steve Urkel has in this episode alone, but it jus adds the sense of fiction, when a character is written out without any explanation, I think because of her age, there was no really way out , if it was Laura or Eddie it could have been an out of the country college or something like that, but I believe they just didn't bother and that sucks. That aside, this episode is pretty average, the main scene with Laura and Myra in a food fight it's clearly the highlight, and it genuily seems like they are having a good time (the actors I mean), personally I believe Steve is much to old now to play this kind of nerd child character, until season 4 he was visibly a child, by the time season 5 began he looks like a teenage growing into the adult age wearing child costumes. Carl's scene trying on the wigs was good, but I believe the whole reason for him to be insecure is pretty dumb, he could have seen a comercial or something like that, but because of a crack Harriet very lightly made? It just serves as an excuse for Carl to have a plot, she makes that kind of remarks all the time and he just shakes it off, not good, not bad, just ok. MVP : Myra 5/10 ***** Peter Shelby

Warning: Spoilers
I'm kind of getting tired of seeing Steve stuck between these two bickering girls (and it has only recently started!). As much as I would like to see Steve end up with Myra (someone who actually appreciates him), it doesn't make any sense for him to be hanging with Myra while he claims to still love Laura. It just doesn't fit with his character, leading someone on. Disappointing. The only reason I gave it a 6 was because of the moments with Carl trying out new hairdos, which was pretty funny.
