I think Cherie Johnson looked prettier in this episode, than any of her other appearances. A shame she got so much pie on her pretty face. There was a certain mystique about the "Maxine" character. She and Laura were best friends since Season 2, yet Cherie never made it into the show's opening credits. This episode was one of three in which Laura and Maxine were at odds over something. In this case, Laura was totally wrong. She had given Curtis up. I don't like to criticize Laura. I've always liked Laura. It's good when she and Maxine make up at the end. Also, Cherie looks prettier after the pie is off her face. I also liked her blouse with only the top button closed. No buttons closed would have been even better, but I digress.

Maxine goes on a date with Curtis and Laura isn't happy about it. It results in a fight. But at the end they are friends again.
Carl is upset because his mom spoils Richie and 3J by letting them do things they aren't allowed to.
Really didn't like the triangle story. Not only was the fight meaningless, a pie fight again, really? If they are completely out of ideas so they have to use ones that don't fit into the story line and are besides it recycled then maybe it is time to stop the show. Considering that they didn't have an episode of the usual quality fora while I guess the show is done.
The Mother Winslow storyline was nice for a substory.
