Typically when i watch Fantasy Island, it is at 11 at night, DVR'ed so i can skip the long infomercials, and beer is involved. I fell upon this episode at 6 pm on a Fantasy Island Marathon. I started ten minutes in but easily got the gist of what was going on. I realized it was season 7 cause of Mr Belevedere, and that's great but season 7 is usually full of lost love stories. Ever watch Unsolved mysteries and get excited about the unsolved murders or ghost stories, and then they play a bunch of "lost love " episodes. Season 7 is that.
One story is about a mother who gave up two kids for adoption and shes an Hollywood star. She is told she can meet them but not reveal who she is, she is only there to meet them, not take them home. She goes off script and does it anyway. And though Mr Rourke severely cautioned and "Must warn " ed her, she ends up sad they reject her , but it all ends happy. She is now considered by the kids as their good friend. Kinda like kids and their parents in the current age.
The other story was equally stupid, a guy who runs beauty pageants was on the island for some reason, i got the impression it was to revive his career , but his daughter was in the contest and that could cause trouble with him being non partial and then some other contestant finds out and black mails him and there is all this bickering and arguing over who should withdraw or do what. It was really stupid. One interesting part i noticed is the guy was arguing with his wife and he says something like "its unfair blah blah blah" and she's like "then light a match" and i was like, how the hell does that saying make sense. Then he wines the same the next line and says "It stinks" and she says some other line that would have worked better before and the "light a match" after him saying it stinks. So i think she screwed that up and it may be a goof.
So it took a lot to watch this one. The two year old was acting up, i was tired cause of the blizzard shoveling, he wanted to watch Mickey mouse, but i persevered and we watched the whole finish of the episode. The kid watched his mickey mouse on the phone. I hate that mickey mouse show, every other character sings about him, tries to please him, does everything he says, basically worships him and he just stands there all smug watching them sing how great he is and then goes "thats me" . what a jerk, it drives me nuts, i keep hoping Donald Duck would knock him down a few pegs but he never ever does. I swear , there was one where Mickey mouse found freaking hieroglyphics of drawing of him and praising him. anyhow, season 7, another Soap Opera worthy love episode.
