A death in the family!
Rabical-9126 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Richie has come up with the idea of a game show which he pitches to BBCs Head of Light Entertainment, the obese, lecherous Jumbo Whiffy who along with his adviser Eggy Guffer agrees to commission the series but not with Richie as the host. Instead they want Bobby Davro to front the show.

Richie is fuming at having been conned out of his idea but he perks up when he receives a phone call saying that his father is dying. As Richie is a 'celebrity', he decides to cash in on this piece of news by inviting celebrities at the funeral and using this event as an advertising campaign for a florist company entitled Bloody Flora. However, Richie gets another phone call saying that his father is starting to make a recovery. So now what must he do? The Answer? Murder.....

Out of all six episodes of 'Filthy, Rich & Catflap', this was the only one which didn't measure up. It has it's moments, but overall lacks the necessary spark to get it going. The late Mel Smith is impressive as the repugnant Jumbo Whiffy, as was Norman Pace as Eggy, who later would front a partnership with Gareth Hale ( who appeared as a game show host in episode two ) for their long running LWT series 'Hale & Pace'. Lynda Bellingham, also no longer with us, plays the fiery Miss. Tomkins, head of the Bloody Flora company.

Funniest bit - Richie and Filthy discussing inventive ideas for an advertisement. ''Someone decided to advertise instant noodles on the grounds that they taste nice. That's so outrageous, it's brilliant!'' says Richie!
