This is actually a western drama and I would say more a drama than a western, despite the presence of a sheriff. And the story can't spread further than the twenty three length. Ok, you have here a revenge scheme, but this remains a sort of theatrical kind of play for a story which takes place mostly indoors. But tthat remains tense and efficient, thanks again to Mrs Stanwyck and director Lewis Allen. Nice and surprising ending.
