A quality mystery.

Janis Gorman has recently inherited a business and wealth from her father, unable to make any decision, she is totally under the control of her Doctor, Bannerman. Jeff Ryder is asked to take a look at the capable, competent Doctor.

Best episode for a while, I think this is perhaps one of the show's top five episodes.

This is a really great storyline, considering this runs for 25 minutes or so, it packs a lot in, it is very well paced and dramatic, given time to breathe and develop, this could have made for a great series.

Very cleverly written, Bannerman could have absolutely nothing to gain from any harm coming to Janis, so who is following her and why, what do they possibly have to gain by driving her out of her mind.

Ferdy Maybe stands out as the cool Doctor Bannerman.

8/10.

The Protector

Janice Gorman's father was a successful but domineering businessman. After his death, his daughter has inherited his fortune.

She has also come into the influence of the controversial psychiatrist Dr Bannerman. He left Britain under a cloud.

Janice wants Dr Bannerman to be the co-executor of the money she has inherited. The other co-executors are suspicious of Dr Bannerman and call in Jeff Ryder.

After Ryder conducts his investigations, he swiftly concludes that Janice's life is in danger. One of Dr Bannerman's patient in Britain committed suicide. He was going to write a will where he would leave all his money to Bannerman but the will never got completed.

It seems Bannerman would do something similar to Janice.

Effective enough under the short time slot, it was a slight story. Ferdy Mayne was just too sinister and insincere as the duplicitous Dr Bannerman.
