The writing and acting on this is so fine!

Warning: Spoilers
Another comedy of errors where someone gets the wrong idea and makes a complete fool out of themselves before they learn the truth, as happened so often on this show. Usually it's Frasier who screws up but Niles is the bungler this time. Roz tells Frasier she may be pregnant. She's depressed so Frasier invites her to a Halloween party that Niles is having in his building. Daphne, Martin, Bulldog, and Gil are along for the fun also. A tipsy Niles overhears a conversation between Daphne and Frasier about Roz and Niles thinks that Frasier has gotten Daphne in "the family way." From then on, when he hears the rude way that Frasier talks to Daphne, he is livid and keeps trying to confront Frasier only to be constantly interrupted or brushed aside.

It's a literary costume party and everyone comes dressed as a character from a book. Roz, I guess feeling this might be her last chance to dress in ANY costume if she turns out to be pregnant, comes dressed as "O" from the erotic book, "The Story of O," and, my gosh, she has never looked so smashing. I think this is the most svelte she's every been on the show and dressed in a tight-fitting leather outfit she should have turned the head of every man at the party but that doesn't come into the plot.

Frasier keeps trying to pick up a woman dressed as Eve in a nude body suit, and is aggravated whenever Daphne or Niles interrupts him. Niles almost goes nuclear when he hears Frasier trying to pick up this woman instead of caring for Daphne. The dialogue that Niles hears all the way through is so funny and his frantic shaking and bugged-out eyes, along with his dialogue account for one of David Hyde Pierce's best performances on this series. I have to address what everyone is saying about Kelsey Grammar's then-wife Camille as Eve: No, she doesn't appear to be a good actress but in the limited time she's on the episode, it's hard to tell if she's a rotten actress, for goodness sake! She neither makes nor breaks the episode. She's just there, says a few lines, then she's gone. No big deal. Count this as another one for my Top Ten episodes..

Great Timing/Great Writing
Hitchcoc10 October 2019
When Roz suspects she is pregnant, Frasier invites her to Niles' Halloween party to take her mind off the possibility. The part is an absolute hoot when Niles suspects that Daphne is the pregnant one and Frasier is the father. It is outrageous and hilarious. One of the best ever.

Ah, OK I Understand Now

Warning: Spoilers
The episode was pretty good, with one exception. The actress who played Eve was just awful. If she's had any more lines it would have ruined the entire episode. I had to search Google to find out who she was, I just knew she had to be related to someone, because there was no way she got the part on talent. Yes, I was right, it was Kelsey Grammers then-wife Camille. I can just imagine how that conversation went, reminiscent of I Love Lucy, Camille whining to Kelsey "Wahhhhhhhhhhhh WHY won't you put me in the show??"

Other than that, it was pretty standard Frasier stuff, funny, creative etc.

Lots of laughs but for the one bimbo
asarandes28 October 2018
Ha, loved this episode. Excellent plot and "miscommunications" between the characters. I could have easily given it a 10 if it weren't for the cameo by the bimbo in the lady godiva outfit. And no, that is not an eve outfit, or she would have been covering her bits with leaves. Sometimes producers should just put their foot down and not let the star insist his talentless bimbo trophy wife have a cameo. She was literally a huge blight on this otherwise flawless episode.

Great Episode, Except

Warning: Spoilers
Fun story, Nile's thinks Frasier got Daphne pregnant - of course he hasn't, but watching Niles lose his mind at the thought is hilarious. The only exception was the character "Eve," whose acting is attrocious - especially next to the seasoned pros of the Frasier cast. As others have noticed, this was then Frasier's wife, a supposed actress. She was unable to pull off a few lines without sticking out like a sore thumb. With so many talented actors looking at that kind of opportunity, it's a shame it was given to a self-proclaimed actress with zero talent. It brought a 10 episode sown to an 8.

Frasier Was Never Funnier
jstorm-525942 February 2024
It's not easy to select one episode of one of the most beloved television programs in history and single it out for any reason. But one might make an exception in this case as this "Halloween" episode is often listed as the funniest episode in the show's entire run.

Very few television episodes have ever created as great a long build up and then a spectacular, spam hitting the fan crescendo as Halloween does. Much like one of those incredible domino fall down videos online, it takes a long time to set it all up and only a fraction of the time to crash to the ground, but it's always worth it.

All that prevents this episode from earning a perfect '10' is the brutally amateur acting of "Eve" at the actual Halloween party, played by Kelsey Grammer's real-life wife at the time, Camille. She only has a couple of lines but they are painfully out of place and it is like watching a shower crooner on stage with Tony Bennet. It's something that just should not have been permitted to happen. But Hollywood nepotism is as hold as the TV business and it's not going to end anytime soon. It would have been far less painful for everyone had she merely been a party guest and never had to open her mouth.

In any case, this show has everything that made this series great. Every cast member is at the top of their game and David Hyde Pierce is especially great after he's had a couple of drinks at the party.

A must watch for fans of the show and newcomers alike!

Great episode
twanster-9765530 July 2020
Other than the guest appearance of the horrendous Camille Grammer this is a brilliant episode. Niles, Martin, daphne, roz all play the Central part in making this one so funny. Not sure who's idea it was to add camilla as eve but I guess frasier had the last word about it as she doesn't fit in at all but none the less the rest of the cast are brilliant in this one.

Drivelly nonsense
kvrzap12 February 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Some times the writing in Frasier can really hit the high notes. This wasn't one of those times. A very weak premise based on a ridiculous misunderstanding with every last lame joke wrung out of it. The only episode I can think of which is worse is the one in the final series where Fraser has everyone convinced he is dying. The gullibility of his family and friends is offensive to me as a human being. The best American comedies use great writing, not characters. This is an epic fail.
