- Narrator: [Opening Narration. Viewers see Richard Kimble enter the town of Wyler City, pass a gas station, and enter a bus depot/barbershop] Wyler City, Montana - a rugged frontier town in the mining country of Montana. To the ordinary man, a place where he can test himself against the harsh demands of nature. To the Fugitive, a corridor of danger.
- Narrator: [Epilog Closing Narration. Viewers see Richard Kimble walking along train tracks] A Fugitive's life is not measured in years. It is measured in moments won - a day gained. Richard Kimble has won another day. Tomorrow, he must win it all over again.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I'd like to know what I'm being charged with.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: What would you prefer?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: That isn't funny.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Well we're not charging you with anything yet. Just holding you for questioning. We have the right to your services for two more hours.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I haven't heard any of the questions.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Green 1962 pickup truck reported stolen. Belonged to a farmer named Pruitt. He got a look at the man. From the description he gave us... fits you.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Why did you run when the officer stopped you?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I only had $10 in my pocket, no visible means of support.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: [Looks Kimble over] You don't look and talk like a vagrant.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: You know, back in Wyler I was sure I had myself a wanted man. Oh I'm still sure. Don't mean I got anything against you personally.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: That's nice to hear.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Find out I was wrong about you, well, you have my apology in advance.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Apologies are easy.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Not for me. Haven't apologized to anybody for anything since I put on a badge.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: What do you do? For a living, I mean.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Mechanic, mostly.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Got a wife?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I used to.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: Why is it so important for you to get me to Helena?
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Find out who you are.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I told you who I was.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Thomas Barrett.
- [pause]
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Who'd you kill, Barrett?
- Dr. Richard Kimble: I didn't kill anybody.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: I just got a feeling about him.
- Thornton: You've got a feeling. What are you, a poet? You're a cop, and there's a book of procedures you're supposed to follow.
- Dr. Richard Kimble: You walk much on that leg, you'll wind up losing it.
- Sheriff's Sgt. Emery Dalton: Thanks for the advice. Now let's walk.
