Christmas cheer.

It's Christmas, the season of good will, with gifts, Christmas carolers and visits.

It has a message, Christmas can be a wonderful time of year, but it can also be a lonely time of year for people as well, people can be surrounded by others, but still feel lonely.

I love the idea of a Christmas routine, and ritual at The Colonel's household. Gifts in the morning, and then off to visit family, George is seen to be the unlucky one, without any family, when in fact he's the one who seems to be about to have the most fun, until Wally arrives. Poor Gabrielle has been forgotten by her scatty sister Lillian.

Yootha Joyce is good as George's girl Irma, a similar role to the one she had in Steptoe and Son.

A nice send off to Series one.
